I would open mcc, and let Mandrake detect the adsl connection and it should set it up for you automatically. You shouldn't need to put the ip address manually.

Any standerd internal cd burner will work. It's the usb ones which may give you a few problems.

Probably easiest way woulod be to go to your software manager or also known as remove your software and do a search for the package to see if it appears. If it doesn't, then you don't have it.

Try going into session manager in kde control panel and it should give you some options on how yuo want the login manager to behave.

Or, if you really want an icon, create an icon on your desktop and link it to the command 'mcc'.

For the adsl, it's better to let Mandrake set it up automatically. When you are in MCC > Netowrk and COnnections > New Connections. Let Mandrake detect it and set it up and on reboot, it should work. As for the browser, i'm not too sure what you mean setting it as default. I just Firefox or Mozilla. As for the shut down problem, not sure either, but I am pretty sure someone else has an answer for that one.

I use guarddog personally. It's very user friendly. Don't need to know ports. Just put in which things you need.

If you are using the default one which only shows the current forecast, that doesn't seem to work very well. I've always had problems with it. I swithed to the one that gives a 5 day forcast and it works perfectly!

My suggestions: -Google for the driver or packages to install to get the printer working. -Try every single canon driver in harddrake. You'll find some drivers for different models may work for this one, or: -Try using Turboprint. Turboprint would be the last option to go with when all others fail. They charge a little money, but yu can try an evaluation version to make sure it will work before committing something. Good Luck!

Well, after successfully building an rpm for kdeaccessibilty, I am having problems building the rpm for kdeadmin. At the end of building I get this error: setCheckedState appears to be in relation to windows so I am not able to figure out how to perform this function as it seems to be causing the problem. Any ideas?

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't recognize 2 different cd roms unless if the ide cable or port is dead. Have you trried using a new cable or testing the exisitng cable at the other pc?

What version of Mandrake are you using? Looks like you are using supermount. You should't need to mount since magicdev or supermount will do it automatically. Should just be as simple as going into the cdrom.

What is the difference between Mepis and Libranet? Getting kinda of curious with Mepis.
