Artificial Intelligence
If you need tips for setup eyecandy (or other things), I'll gladly help.Just a quick tip for me, please! Is it possible / easy to add the wobbly windows to (K)ubuntu? Do I need Aiglx / Xgl / Compiz / Quinnstorm / Beryl / something else, and if so is it easy to add? I'm test-driving Kubuntu Edgy which didn't seem to come with the 3d stuff as standard like Mandriva 2007 does. Any help or a pointer would be great! Easy enough: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=272104 if you have nvidia and want also the latest driver: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263851 under step 2 go for option 2 because the 9xxx have gone stable. neddie
Great, thanks! I'm now writing this post from a wobbly-windowed Kubuntu 6.10 with Beryl thanks to your link and this wiki page. B)
Darkelve
Hey Foz de Iguacu, right? <snip> Yes! Truly brilliant sights :) Taking Ubuntu for a spin... still feels weird to be using Gnome. If you need tips for setup eyecandy (or other things), I'll gladly help. Do you know anything about getting fonts to look the best under Ubuntu? I've already messed with the subpixel hinting (set it to 'medium'), text is better but I've got the impression it's still worse than some other distros that I used. Artificial Intelligence
hmmm...Usually I install gsfonts-x11 and msttcorefonts, then sudo fc-cache -f -v and a restart of X then things are running smooth for me.

dexter11
It's just the "A feeling of rain" theme. I didn't do anything special with it. Pity WindowMaker is not that fine tuned in Mandriva as it is in Suse. Still got an issue to solve with the menu for example.

Guest AmpLiF1eR
New on Linux for about 2 weeks, haven't tried a lot of distros yet.... My first complaint on Linux (when my friends advised me to try it) was that most of the Linux users I know were the type of people which prefered classic menu in windows XP without any eye candy and their Linux looked like made in the 60's :) They told me you can change it to whatever you like so I gave it a try (Ubuntu is my first try in this case) Edited November 21, 2006 by AmpLiF1eR
