  2. Thanks a lot John. Much appreciated. :)
  3. It's back! They had to close down the server after a few microsoft agents tried to kill them and the server! but luckly both the urmpi team and the server have found a new hide out and have evaded the microsoft agents.
  4. Well im trying to get winny working on linux, with wine i have tried for ages and ages, it really is a great app for a lot of japanese music in ape and flac formats so it would be great to get it working. First problem i can get it to start but it starts with all the squares etc so can someone tell me how to run something in wine so it shows teh japanese? also the huge list of errors is annoying and will only slow my computer down in the long run, so hopefully we can iron these out. I shall attach a screenshot of it running and a txt file with all the errors. This is a must needed app, i may have to buy a cheap pc just to run this *sigh* Thank you for any help, also if anyone would like winny to try and get it working them self just say. 5. I think i know what happened. Server went KABOOM!
  6. I have a feeling i messed this file up, maybe not but when you have that feeling, you know. So i don't want to reboot and stuff fuxors up. So do you see anything wrong with it? /dev/hda6 / ext3 defaults 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 /dev/hda8 /home ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda5 /home/lowe/Stored ext3 umask=0,nls=utf-8 0 0 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0 none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=ext2:vfat,--,umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850 0 0 /dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c ntfs umask=0,iocharset=utf8,ro 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda7 swap swap defaults 0 0
  7. No i don't think that's the case. I have burned mp3's ripped with xing (shitty out of date codec). What about trying a different software just to see if it does the same?
  8. Looks nice, one thing i don't really like is the nav, the font is very hard to read. Except from that it looks great.
  9. Easiest way is to get Alcohol 120, don't touch the files leave them as they are and select the file (in alcohol 120) and burn, easiest way, never fails. Btw your probally gonna have to crack it, hit suprnova.org and get one with a crack.

    Mplayer

I find it hard to believe it won't work if you have the win32 codecs, try downloading them again via plf. Something obviously fuxored with the codecs.

    Mplayer

That's weird if you have all the codecs it should play fine. uhm Are they up to date?
  12. No help here. But what i recommend you do is just buy a nice ethernet modem, i was in the same situation with my bt voyager 100, man that was a pain, so i bought a D-Link 300t. You would probally notice a change in your connection aswell, it would be a lot more reliable.
  13. Just stopped using KDE, man gnome is a lot better, no more using that shitty konqueror :P . Anyway it's pretty basic, after all i only started using it this morning.

    Gdesklets

Alright so i just downloaded gdesklets and sysinfo, ran gdesklets then i went into a console and typed gdesklets sysinfo. Thats supposed to run the file right? well it never it just came up Couldn't display because the refrenced file doesn't exist? like wut? so what am i doing wrong? (One thing, i installed via urpmi. And yes the files are installed i checked) EDIT: Can you believe it i found out how to do it myself, honest  . I had to type gdesklets-add-sysinfo-display

    WMP alternative

Well since i watch a lot of anime and a lot are encoded in different codecs, i would have to say Mplayer the others in my opinion are uhm buggy oh and stay away from totem, nasty.

    Last try...

My standard font in konqueror is sans. I don't understand why it works in gnome and notin kde. 0_0 EDIT: I did a little test with my half japanese files, i tried to play one through BMP, it plays but it comes up Invalid UTF-8. EDIT: Just did a test in gnome, played the same file (which displays prefect in gnome) and it shows up fine in BMP, am i really gonna have to switch to gnome just for this to work?

    Last try...

GRR still not working. I added some fonts to it, restarted x and it still isn't showing correctly. ehm maybe i need those fonts you have, could you upload them or something, please. ^_~ EDIT: I managed to get those fonts and still no luck. In the attached pics the first is the way the folder looks in konqueror, and the second is a image i made in gimp the way it should look.

I don't really think that's the problem, i can view all webpages fine. I used to be able to see the files fine, but, all my apps would start in japanese, so i really need everything to be in english but be able to see the filenames correctly, i really think it has to do with those files i posted up above.

    Last try...

I have almost given up, im seriously considering going back to winblows if i can't get this sorted out, i have tried everything to get my computer to display japanese correctly, i thought i had it last time, but i was wrong there was still some missing characters in my files, this time im going to explain in detail what i want in japanese and why. And another thing Kde is supposed to be so great at internalization, ha yeah right, it's murder to find help and unless you want a full blown japanese pc it's useless. Alright a little bit of background first, im young and i love to watch anime, listen to japanese music and video game music. Most of my files mp3's, folder names etc are in japanese so of course i want to be able to see them in japanese even if i can't read them. :P With windows of course it was easy as usual, and i can display them fine. Now another thing i love linux it's great but the only thing stopping me is this japanese madness, i honestly have tried for days if not weeks to get this right, but still no luck, whatsoever. Surely someone out there is just like me and has managed to get it working fine. Also there is different encodings UTF-8 shift-jis etc so maybe i have to mess with some settings (which i have already tried) anyway it seems there is two files that, that change the display settings or whatever you want to call them these two files are located in - /home/username/i18n/ /etc/sysconfig/i18n/ Now i could be totally wrong, there could be a lot of other files that change the settings, now first of im gonna post the contains of those files, just to show you and maybe you guys can find the problem. :P First up /home/username/i18n/ LC_TELEPHONE=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_MONETARY=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_PAPER=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_NAME=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_GB.UTF-8 LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_GB.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_GB.UTF-8 And second SYSFONTACM=iso15 LANGUAGE=en_GB:utf8 LC_ADDRESS=en_GB LC_COLLATE=ja_JP LC_NAME=en_GB LC_NUMERIC=en_GB LC_MEASUREMENT=en_GB LC_TIME=en_GB LANG=ja_JP LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_GB LC_MESSAGES=ja_JP LC_CTYPE=ja_JP LC_TELEPHONE=en_GB LC_MONETARY=en_GB LC_PAPER=en_GB SYSFONT=lat0-16 Honestly any help at all would be great, even if it's just a guess. If i can't get this sorted out it's off back to windows, and i really don't want to go back, but i can not live without this.
  21. I use FireStarter i know it's a front end for some firewall but i don't know which, it's easy to configure for n00bs like me.
  22. Well by style i really meant "look" why is there nothing for the panel, kicker or whatever you call it on kde-look.org?
  23. I never really found out how to changed the style of the taskbar in KDE, would anyone be so kind to tell me how?
  24. Thanks for the suggestion adam.:D I upgraded Gimp to 2.0 and downloaded BMP and it's a lot nicer looking and more stable.
  25. *sigh* more font problems, when the hell will this end, it's a nightmare. Anyway most of my apps fonts seem to be fine, firefox, mplayer all fine, but programs like xmms and the gimp have this horrible font. Have a look at the screen shot and maybe you could help me again.
