I have a Sony MSACUS1 (Memory stick card reader). And left a memory stick plugged in on bootup. They usually get picked up through the startup procedure when it scans the USB ports.

You can do it with blender but youd need to learn a fair bit about it and camera's, lighting etc. If you created your structures etc. on the 3d plane, set up cameras and rendered the scene from each camera. I guess it just depends how you want to be able to navigate through the world. OR Ive used 3DS MAX with the Quake 3 Tempest plugin (WINDOZE). Which will generate an actual world that is playable in quake3. There is a free version of 3DSMAX called gmax which is often used by modmakers for quake3, half life etc. gmax is windoze though, it can be found at Discreet's Website Im sure the Half Life SDK or Quake 3 SDK would be only a google away

I believe fedora cannot use reiserFS as it's home partition file system (not /home, just the partition where the installation sits) It can, of course, read it. 6 Days to go hopefully :)

XP *will* screw with the bootloader, but lilo is easily restored with the first MDK cd following the steps cannonfodder gave. If you are looking for another distro to try out, I found fedora to be quite easy to setup and maintain, with tools such as up2date and its apt and yum reposotrie access makes it easy to find things.

For windows, you could get something like Motherboard Monitor A laptop may heat differently as the "Designed For Windows XP" ones usually take commands from a process running on Windows. But in terms of a desktop, I havent noticed any difference, this could be because my fan speeds etc. arent controlled by the motherboard or software since I have a frontmount fanspeed/rhoebus controller.

Yeah I used to have this problem. Finally someone told me open the ports *duh* and I started getting 25k all the time :) Until recently, back to uploading at 20k and downloading at 0.1k now :(

so in average, how much data really gets downloaded using that ISO posted earlier? Or does the amount fluctuate *alot* depending on what hardware you are using? Im only on 256k ADSL and the debian net install took aaages.

so what would be the current release to go for? Should I shoot for the CVS snapshot or what? and would you recommend stage1 or 2 for faster boot times vs. ease of setup etc.

Ive been checking out Gentoo Linux and the whole process seems logical etc. and with many options. Basically what Im looking for is more of an opinion of each of the different methods etc. For example, would people recomend the stage1, 2 or 3 installation etc. A n00b's guide to getting and installing gentoo would be great. Along with some personal opinions. Im sick of waiting for fedor core 2, extra points if you convert me completely before fc2 is released! :D

with MDK its easy, just plug it in! No configuration required unless you want to use internet keys etc.

Matrox hasnt slipped as much, they just moved into a different market. Their latest Parhelia card was deemed crap for gaming and recommended to professional designers and 3d modellers for rendering etc. Unless youre a hardcore rendering professional hehe, matrox probably wont be interested. Besides, I see nothing wrong with the nvidia drivers :) Never had a bug with them.

R U asking about the old 5pin DIN plugs that look like an overgrown ps2? I think its just "keyboard port". That would be a serial port.

I cant speak for the 2.6 kernel but I do deal *alot* in overclocking. The Ti4200P is factory overclocked, so its very stable and ensured to last just as long as a non-factory-overclocked card. This is why Albatron put such a chunky HSF (heatsink/fan) on the chip and RAM. You really dont have to push the card any harder, the speed Albatron set it at is just fine :) If you are interested in overclocking, its very easy once you know the basics. Basically there isnt too much damage you can do unless you run your overclocked components at too higher temperature, or put too much voltage into it. I am a regular at the Overclockers Australia Forums and they have a great community there for people willing to learn about overclocking. You will have to become a member to read the forums, but its worth it If you have any further questions or interest in overclocking, send me a PM. Good luck with your choice

Id definitely recomend the Ti4200. The original reason I bought it was because of it's great features and cheap price :D Of course, check out what illogic-al said about the conflicts with 2.6 kernel etc. Otherwise, the Ti4200 is great! Hardware T&L, decent processor and RAM speed, and 128megs of RAM. The one I picked up was the Albatron Ti4200P Turbo, it was the cheapest of the few, has a massive heatsink/fan, and is factory overclocked to the speed of a Ti4400 I believe. The chip is also unlocked so youre free to wind it up to the speed of a Ti4600 or more if you want plati

What exactly did the error say? I remember when I installed these drivers on a friend's computer it was reporting that the kernel-headers were not found. If this is the case you can "urpmi kernel-headers" from root before the install. aru wrote a guide here which may help you with the install. Hope this helps :) plati

I currently use giFT Basically you download and compile the engine, then you download and compile the frontend for it. There are several different frontends, ranging from GTK2 to terminal GUI's. Theres a good range of files on offer and I havent had a problem with it.
