  1. The firmware can be found at PLF or MDE: urpmi ivtv-firmware Oh well if it works it works. :D Everything looks fine. So what happens when you run: mplayer /dev/video0
  2. You probably have two ivtv versions mixed up. The Mandriva ivtv module is 0.2.0-rc3f. Look in the tips and tricks forum for a mandriva 10.1 and ivtv howto for more information about removing/installing ivtv.
  3. Don´t use other rpms, only rpms build for mandriva. If you want to use the latest version independent repo´s like mde or mcnl. If these don´t carry the application build from source.
  4. I´ve no idea how kappfinder searches for applications. I think there are kde guidelines how to install an application (perhaps freedesktop guidelines?) so perhaps it can´t find Gnome apps. As for kmenuedit: isn´t there an export option to save the menu settings?
  5. If this is KDE, rightclick kicker (the panel), choose configure, click the menu icon and selecyt ´show only name´(translated from Dutch so actual words can be diffrent)
  6. Cann't install kdepim-kontact because of missing kdetoys-weather. :) Almost there. Only 2 packages to go.
  7. Missing libpq.so.3 : Try linking: ln -s /usr/lib/libpq.so /ust/lib/libpq.so.3 And it looks kdepim and kdegraphics are there. Only things missing kdetoys. Installing now.
  8. Try installing with (hit F1): linux noapic acpi=off
  9. Probably because the keys are allready used. Open the kde control center, system, input actions, then under (this was my situation so for you it could be different) mentor office wireless keyboard and remove the volume keys. That should be it. If that doesn't work bind the keys to the master channel in kmix (rightclick the volume slide and select gloabal shortkeys)

    GIMP it!

    I did this in 10 seconds :)
  11. If you get an error about a missing file go to: http://rpm.pbone.net/, select Mandriva as your distro and look for it. In this case libpq.so is in libpq4-devel-8.0.7-0.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm. Install that rpm and if that was the only error everything should work again. As for amarok, I have no problem with it (though I build it from source this time so don't know of any problems with the mde rpm. If the mde version doesn't work try the one at mcnl http://www.mandrivaclub.nl/sources/official/2006/i586/ About the missing kdepim and kdegraphics: patience. Perhaps they have internet connections problems or their mother in laws dropped unexpectedly by. I'm sure the package will appear in the end. :)
  12. Libkdeaddons is available but you can't install it because it's dependent on kdepim-akregator and kdepim-akregator is not available. :)
  13. No you're on to something here. There definitely is a buzzard, though I don't believe it's British. It looks more like the pet buzzard of the gravedigger from Lucky Luke. (10 global mod points if you know what I'm talking about :D )
  14. When will kdepim and kdegraphics be available?
  15. Couldn't wait for all packages to be available. Had to install it (and now I have no kmail :D ). Anyway everything works fine. Only strange thing is that the ksensor digits in kicker look a lot smaller. And kde 3.5.2 kdepim packages are not there yet (and kdeaddon). No other things that I notice.
  16. Avidemus does what you want. Have a look at the filter options.
  17. Not all packages are available yet. I'll try again tomorrow.
  18. What you need to do now is to install the drivers for your card (called modules in linux). These drivers can be installed with optione like: card=34 etcetc. You can see if the driver is installed with the lsmod command. (open a console, login as root and type: lsmod | grep saa7134) If you get no output the driver isn´t installed and you need to install it with: modprobe saa7134 <if that doesn´t work use options> After that test the card with tvtime (urpmi tvtime). If that works add the card to mythtv.
  19. Did you do a clean install of Mandriva 2006 or did you upgrade? Did you have an existing .kde folder for an existing user or is it a completely new user. If it is an upgrade do a new install (don't format the /home partition that is where all your files are (ofcourse only is you keep your files in /home)). If you have an old .kde folder, rename it to .kde.bak and login again. If it works copy the files from .kde.bak to the new .kde folder. Good luck
  20. Probably your soundcard doesn't support midi (if it does you need to setup midi support for your soundcard, for a howto look in my sig). You need to install a software synthesizer like fluidsynth and an frontend like qsynth (to install: urpmi qsynth). After installation you need to point qsynth to a soundfont and after that you need to point kmid to fluidsynth. For more information search the board for: Rosegarden Good luck.
  21. You could make the xorg.conf non writable. :)
  22. Mandriva uses the x font server (xfs) no need to add the font paths, just make sure the server is running by typing (as root): service xfs status (it should output a green OK but in your case probably a red FAILED.). Start the server with: service xfs start
  23. If you have the cat ouput it means the module works orrectly. Now you just have to edit the xorg.conf for it t work in X. If it works in X (meaning the pointer moves when you move the stylus) it should work in for example the gimp. Good luck
