How do I make Linux shiny and clean?
Artificial Intelligence replied to Artificial Intelligence's topic in Software
Thanks for reply Chris. hmmm...I just stumble upon this one http://www.oo-software.com/en/download/index.shtml It seems they are building a defrag thing to linux -
Now I have been speculating and searching for the answers but without luck so I throw the question in here. this question might insult someone but here we goes and I may sound M$-ish. All my computer life I've been running M$ and recently change to Mandrake linux and one thing occure(sp?) to me; Where's the defrag and the clean up option to linux??? Is that something Linux don't use? How to keep old unused files filling up the harddisc? .:=The AI Dude=:. Ps. It's not quiet true that I've only been on M$ machine. My first computer was C64 and later Amiga500

Artificial Intelligence posted a topic in Other Linux and Unix Distributions
I'm made my mind up to remove XP pro once and for all and installing an another linux distro on my computer. I was thinking of Gentoo because i've heard all the packages is very up to date when someyhing new is released. Then this pop up to mind, how diffrent is Gentoo to Mandrake, any diffrences at all than the name? .:=The AI Dude=:. -
May i suggest: Xorg 6.8 for rpm

How well is the project going?

I read in other threads that people also have problem with driver 6111 and mandrake beta version. Perhaps you should go for the stable version of 10. though you should reconsidering the suggestion I mentioned in my post earlier, it worked for me, perhaps it will work for you :) .:=The AI Dude=:.

Here is how I did to make thunderbird (v. 0.7.3) running: 1. Download the urmpi 2. open the konsole su <type in your password> cd /usr/bin sh mozilla-thunderbird Voilá ! B) -
Try with: sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run --add-this-kernel (If it's nvidia driver 6111) a new file will appear called: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1custom.run (or something like that)

Question about upgrading.
Artificial Intelligence replied to Artificial Intelligence's topic in Installing Mandriva
ok, thanks...I'll hoped for upgrades so I don't have remake all the changes I've made. -
Have you tried to turn off the Zip-drive while installing mandrake? Though it's a "funny" problem you got there. I'm running with an Omega zip drive and never experient such problem.

Hi there people :) I'm considering upgrading my mdk 10.0 to 10.1. My question is: If I've drivers and programs running on 10.0 that's newer than the drivers and programs on 10.1 will 10.1 override them? (eg. I'm running Xorg 6.8 on my 10.0 and the Xorg on 10.1 is 6.7) Edit: Oops! wrong forum, can someone please move this one to the right forum, please :) .:=The AI Dude=:.

Heh, and I'm living just across the the northern sea....wonder when I'll see a missile in my backyard marked M$. Seriously: What they gonna do if their system gets infected with a virus or hacked for that matter. It's a disaster!!!

This will fit better :deal:

I'm not quiet sure what's on CD 4, but anyhow what's on the CDs you can download through Mandrakes urmpi system. Go for lilo boot-loader .:=The AI Dude=:.

Muwhahahahaha !!! English battleships with M$ software The world just become that more unsafe to live in
-
Hi worf :) You don't need the 4. CD. When Mandrake installer ask for it press <esc>. 60gb is just fine, I'm myself are using 60gb to Mandrake and 20 gb to WinXP Pro. On Mandrake home page is a list of hardware that Mandrake is supporting. (I can't remember where exactly) .:=The AI Dude =:.

Mandrakelinux 10.1 Release Candidate 1
Artificial Intelligence replied to feralertx's topic in Software
Is it worth the aford to upgrading from 10.0 to 10.1? Would it be better to wait for 10.2? What the show in the article it seems sparse with new/updated stuff. Though I hoped for KDE 3.3 to be included also Xorg 6.8. It would be nice if someone could give some feedback how they feel the diffrences between 10.0 and 10.1 .:=The AI Dude=:. -
Thanks :) Now I've installed Xorg(v. 6.8), how do I make sure it's Xorg and not XF86config is running? Is it now save to delete XF86Config and how do I do it. I checked Xorg and the setup is identical with XG86Config.

aaah! Thanks :) I allways forget the Caps sensitivity. My FPS is ~22201 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4440.200 FPS is that good? Though when i run glxgears it seems a bit clumbsy when it moves.
