  7. Hello, Hello what you can try is download gaim .75 from urpmi. urpmi gaim then after it is installed, then download the Mandrake RPM and once you have that run, rpm -Uvh gaim-1.0blahblah.rpm of course subsituting the ' gaim-1.0blahblah ' with the actual file name. Hope This Helps, -Luis
  8. I installed Arch and Loved it and I'm still using it, makes everything on my laptop run great, the only thing that I'm kinda really mad about is my video card not working for sh*** . When I first installed Arch I got about 3500 frames now I'm only getting about 1800. Which does not allow me to play any games. That's the thing that it's the most irratating and I'm kinda disappointed that this section of the board doesn't really offer that much ArchLinux help. -Luis
  9. Nominated Screenshot Hi. Just like the wallpaper a lot, and would like to put some gdesklets up as soon as I find some more stuff one them in Arch. -Luis
  10. I've been using Arch for about a month now and it's a really really really really good distro too. For me a lot of people call me a newbie and all , and say that I should not be using such complex distro. But for me I was able to click with Arch very very quick and everyday I learn something new. The installation was a litte hard at first but now since I re-install so damn much I can pretty much do it in my sleep :P . Anyhow I've been able to get used to Arch very quickly, also I love the way that it's up to date on almost everything which is kind of cool. Pacman is also awesome just like mysti said emerge was...... I might give Mandrake 10.1 OE for some games, since I find it a lot easier to make my video card run decent in it than any other distro..... I kinda liked Ubuntu but for some reason I found it a little hard for me.... I don't know if it was because there was sooo many steps to install java or something, but I don't know just wasn't "feeling" it...if ya know what I mean :P Besides that I think just about all the distros I have tried out so far as absolutely great. I might give Ubuntu a try in the future.... I have about 7 GB of free space to try out another distro :D anyhow time to go (party) and have some (jk) going out to have some fun, later all! -Luis
  11. Just get some of bvc's themes anyhow I have to how ever say, I didn't like the new corrections you made to your d3a theme, I liked the old one a little better .... just a comment, that's the only change I'm able to see, either how I still like it and Use it :P -Luis
  12. Sorry I don't know much but it might have to do something with that yenta socket or what ever it's called, hopefully LZ will be aroundhere and he can tell you more about it and how to fix it. I had the same problem when I was using MDK my wireless card would work and sometimes not! -Luis
  13. Hello, I've been using Arch for no more than about 2 weeks or so. I'm having some troubles with my ATI Radeon Mobility M6 32MB video card. My frames are very low, usually in Mandrake I was able to get aroud 3500 now this is what I get, ( note the error when I run it from user ) $ glxgears libGL error: open DRM failed (Operation not permitted) libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering 648 frames in 5.0 seconds = 129.600 FPS 678 frames in 5.0 seconds = 135.600 FPS 678 frames in 5.0 seconds = 135.600 FPS 678 frames in 5.0 seconds = 135.600 FPS X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). I have looked into the Error and I added something about DRI in my xorg config, I have not re-started X yet because I'm currently in the process of downloading Americas Army. This is what I get when I run glxgears from root, # glxgears 1894 frames in 5.0 seconds = 378.800 FPS 1898 frames in 5.0 seconds = 379.600 FPS 1890 frames in 5.0 seconds = 378.000 FPS 1879 frames in 5.0 seconds = 375.800 FPS Broken pipe As you can see the numbers go up. I have looked around the board and have found that some people have had the same problem, so I googled a bit and adding the DRI section to xorg.conf seemed to fix the problem for most cases. This is what I get when I run glxinfo as a user, $ glxinfo name of display: :0.0 Segmentation fault but once again when I run it as root everything seems to work, # glxinfo name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes server glx vendor string: SGI server glx version string: 1.2 server glx extensions: GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_OML_swap_method, GLX_SGI_make_current_read, GLX_SGIS_multisample, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig client glx vendor string: SGI client glx version string: 1.4 client glx extensions: GLX_ARB_get_proc_address, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_MESA_allocate_memory, GLX_MESA_swap_control, GLX_MESA_swap_frame_usage, GLX_OML_swap_method, GLX_OML_sync_control, GLX_SGI_make_current_read, GLX_SGI_swap_control, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGIS_multisample, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGIX_visual_select_group GLX extensions: GLX_ARB_get_proc_address, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_MESA_swap_control, GLX_MESA_swap_frame_usage, GLX_OML_swap_method, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGIS_multisample, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc. I'm going to compile ther kernel with the ATI drivers built into them. thanks, -Luis
  14. Cool I would like to try it, I just have to try Americas Army first then I would like to try out the doom demo....I'm probably going to like it and then buy it, depends on my hardware, not the best. -Luis
