  6. I just compiled a kenel and the first time that I did it just made everything run better. But right now It's my second time and I'm not getting that performance I was getting before :( but ac_dispatcher is working hard I guess to make it work again....Or at least I think so ;). I thought it would be harder but it's not it's quite simple if you know your way around Linux. -Luis

  12. For mobility card Non on those drivers ever ever worked for me. Like I have said many many times what solved my problem is by taking the Drivers that came with MDK and c ompile them into the kernel. That fixed all my problems that I have ever ever had with any graphic related problems. I have the Mobility M6 , and now it's runs a hell of a lot better than it did when I just used the modules. -Luis

  15. I'm sorry for that I have no Idea how that came to be here is the real link, Click here I am positive that I put this link up, I'm now sure that some one was messing around with my post, because I did this last night and I checked the link and it worked. -Luis
  16. You don't really need to have it match your kernel I ran a 2.6.3-7mdk with a 2.6.3-16mdk kernel source. As for the ATI I have had the same problem but after I fixed that problem, and it tells you on their website steps to fix it, I ran into more errors that not even the website ( ATI ) knew the answer to. So pretty much after I had answered all the questions it asks for installation ( about 40 ) It asked to reboot and when I did it messed up stuff with X. So this was a while ago when I was a total newbie once I got dumped into console since X could not boot up I got so mad and I didn't know what to do. So I re-installed linux and I remember I insulted the guy who helped me. But then I noticed I had just made me look very very stupid. So after that I gave up and just less than 4 days a go I compiled my own kernel everything worked great. I compiled the ATI drivers that the kernel uses into the kernel. After that everything else works just great. I went from 640 frames , from now to a staggering 3500 frames. Might seem crappy but I am running a Mobility M6 32mb. So for me it was just the greates thing that I have ever accomplished. And really the only solution that I have see to this. -Luis

Thanks, that is what I had planned at first but some one told me that it's not possible. I have Knoppix right now. I just have to know how to use it or mount the partitions on it. If you can maybe explain it a little better than I'll be able to get this over and done with. Thanks a lot. -Luis
  18. I found out by compiling my own kernel my computer got faster, I think it was the option of having the kernel set to use my P4. And also my ATI drivers if that has had anything to do with the speed. You should try to compile your kernel some time. It's fun, and it's well worth it. -Luis

  21. Hey sorry to hear that, I ran into the same problem little over a week ago, no on knew how to restore it so I had to re-install. Right now I have a thread open to find out how to make more space on / . Our problem seems to be that /usr is with /. Read the post on this Section ' Partition ' hopefully I will get some cool new tips on how to go about it. Hope to see this work for the both of us. -Luis
  22. Hello, Well I'm going to do the same thing. But right now I'm going thrue some space on my HD issues. Here is the link from & written by the almighty Mod illogic-al, Click here If you have any problems post back I'll inform him about this thread so If you run into any problems then he will be able to help you with, since I have not tried it my self yet. Hope this helps, -Luis
  23. Is it that cartoon program? Where it's like you and a friend talking to each other and then what you type comes in little bubbles and you can animate all the cartoons etc? If that's it I haven't used something like that in over 3 years when I had my windows 98 machine. If so then I don't know such a thing for Linux, there probably is something out there like that. -Luis
