  1. I was looking around for Window Managers when I came across this. Has anyone tried this? What are your thoughts on it?
  2. I was trying to play around with emacs this morning but the TUTORIAL file was missing does anyone know were I can find it?
  3. I have Mandrake 10 running a vanilla 2.6.7 kernel. I am wondering how I can install the ATI drivers to get 3D acceleration on my computer. I hear the ATI Drivers are for 2.4 kernels. Can anyone tell me how it is done on 2.6 kernels?
  4. I have Mandrake 10 on a 2.6.7 kernel. I can't seem to be able to listen to any music. KsCD seems to think there is a song playing and it recognizes the CD but I won't hear any sound. I know my sound is working because I can hear warnings and other sound files on Mandrake but I can neither listen to music or watch DVDs. Thanks in advance.
  5. Well sorry to tell you that none of the games you listed have Linux Binaries for them(the guys at id promised us Linux binaries but they still haven't showed) you can always try Wine and Calgera(WineX). There are also a lot of fun free games out there like: Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, Americas Army, bzFlag, FreeCiv, and the list goes on and on and on. Sadly I don't do much gaming on linux because first of all I have an ATI card and second of all my wireless card lags a lot.
  6. Can you post the link to were you got these kernels?
  7. Here is what dmesg had to say: prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol p80211netdev_rx prism2_usb: Unknown symbol p80211netdev_rx prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol register_wlandev prism2_usb: Unknown symbol register_wlandev prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol wlan_unsetup prism2_usb: Unknown symbol wlan_unsetup prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol unregister_wlandev prism2_usb: Unknown symbol unregister_wlandev prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol p80211netdev_hwremoved prism2_usb: Unknown symbol p80211netdev_hwremoved prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol wlan_setup prism2_usb: Unknown symbol wlan_setup prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol p80211netdev_rx prism2_usb: Unknown symbol p80211netdev_rx prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol register_wlandev prism2_usb: Unknown symbol register_wlandev prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol wlan_unsetup prism2_usb: Unknown symbol wlan_unsetup prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol unregister_wlandev prism2_usb: Unknown symbol unregister_wlandev prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol p80211netdev_hwremoved prism2_usb: Unknown symbol p80211netdev_hwremoved prism2_usb: disagrees about version of symbol wlan_setup prism2_usb: Unknown symbol wlan_setup any ideas?
  8. I ran depmod -a and got no errors. But when I tried modprobe I got the same errors. What could be wrong? Is the module corrupted? Maybe I should try another version of linux-wlan-ng. Or is it something else that is causing the problem?
  9. Alright guys good news :D I got the Linux-Wlan drivers working. But I still can't go on the internet. When I run modprobe prism2_usb I get the following errors: [root@localhost sebastian]# modprobe prism2_usb FATAL: Error inserting prism2_usb (/lib/modules/2.6.3-7mdk/linux-wlan-ng/prism2_usb.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) I think this might not be too much trouble(I hope) At least I can boot up my computer with the driver attached and the system wont crash. And the little wireless light on the adapter is working so thats a good sign(again I hope). Any ideas on what is wrong now?
  10. Bah damn it. I run urmpi kernel-source and it says it is already installed but the source for the 2.4 kernel is definitly not installed(its not there). I ran urmpi kernel 2.4 and it said it was already installed. It seems the linux-wlan-ng drivers do work for 2.6 its just something is wrong with my set up. Does anyone know of any other way I can get the prism2_usb modules. I read something about the Orinoco drivers. But I am not sure.
  11. Sort of a n00bish question but I am using the 2.4.25 kernel in order to install Linux-wlan(linux-wlan does not support 2.6 very well). So I downloaded the source code to 2.4.25 but when I tried to put it in the /usr/scr folder it did not let me? How can I place the code there? I do not seem to have the right permission.
  12. Well then I guess I'll try the linux-wlan-ng drivers with the 2.4 kernel.
  13. lsmod did not show the prism2_usb. It showed a bunch of modules but not the one I needed. I don't have the output but if it is nessesary then I will go get it. Any ideas? and did linuxant bring up anything?
  14. Ok I went into Linux ran those commands and got not errors for the echo command but got the following errors for the ifup command: Determining IP information for wlan0...SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device Not sure what it means
