  1. Now 2 gigs can be a single game ut2003 = 2.7 gig
  2. so you are running a different mozilla browser to 1.1 yes? In usr/bin/ you will find a script called mozilla You need to change the file paths in this script to the new ones for the newer mozilla you installed(quite a few of them). What the script does is it checks to see if mozilla browser/mail/composer is open and if it is it just opens a new browser window or for mail it makes the mail window active etc.. If nothing is already open it fires up mozilla. OR you could take a copy of this file and modify it and save it in a different location, then create a link to it on you desktop/taskbar so you could have both versions working like this.

  6. Got it working by removing the newer version on libsndfile and installing an older one from source. Yay
  7. After looking around i discovered that libsndfile's api has changed a bit, some of the functions have be dropped and replaced with new functions. So either i have to revert back to an older libsndfile if i can find one that works or change the source code to reflect the changes in the api (and i am a c n00b), or contact the author and see if i can get him too change some source code for me. Oh well joys to be me Oh yes i got the hardcopy for this book, it was in a decent bookstore, i was amazed to see it there though.

    PHP help please

Are you naming your scripts with the .php extension or .html? Are your scripts in the /var/www/html/ directory? If you installed apache with mod_php it should work, no need to need to edit the apache conf file.
  9. I mainly play: Urban Terror www.urbanterror.org Quake3 mod Unreal Tournament Unreal Tournament 2003 RTCW Tactical Ops I know all fps They all run natively. Am hoping for NWN some time soon. Also play: Vegastrike Ur Quan Masters - starcontrol 2 remake Have a look a DOlson's games page http://aslan.no-ip.com/~dana/mdkxp/?c=games
  10. have a look at DOlson's tutorial http://aslan.no-ip.com/~dana/mdkxp/?c=ttrls/flashrpm
  11. I can relate too that, my partner is always wanting more shoes and clothes rather than usefull things like games and computer hardware. She already has huge amounts on both, and i only have 2 ok computers. She needs to get her priorities right
  12. Well i am just amazed that they had an article on zdnet that made linux look like it could be better than windows for something. First time for everything i guess, maybe m$ didn't pay them this month :P

    Scorched3d

I saw that game a while ago and thought it would be good fun. I used to play the original game ages ago and it was really good.
  14. I just got a sound blaster live 5.1 yesterday. I used the oss driver and i can get all the speakers going but the digital lead thats supposed to go in the center/sub woofer doesn't work. I have to plug the front in front and the rear in the center/ subwoofer and all the speakers then work. Does anyone else get this?
  15. I like the game section :D Nice work thanks
  16. you don't need /proc/nv as far as i can tell just has a file in it that says this isn't used any more look in /proc/driver/nvidia i cant see why you cant get it too work. :? I install the new drivers via nvidia's readme (the previous drivers were install via DOlson's tutorial). I had to remove <dri> lines from /etc/security/console.perms then chmod 0666 /dev/nvidia* chown root /dev/nvidia* So i could use opengl as a non root user. And that was it. BTW i didn't have a problem with permissions when i followed DOlson's tut on the 3123 drivers.
  17. i have 195 nvidia too in devices /proc/nvidia ? i don't have that i have /proc/driver/nvidia and /proc/nv(isn't used). When you were installing the new nvidia drivers did you remove the NVIDIA_GLX rather that try to upgrade it(aparantly upgrade doesn't work properly for the GLX rpm) rpm -e NVIDIA_GLX rather that upgrade?
  18. Cool program! I can finally use twinview woohoo :D Works great too. BVC i installed the new nvidia drivers last night. Compiled rebuilt them both from the source rpms, downloaded yanc and did a ./install.sh as root still as root typed yanc and it worked fine (after making backups of my xfree86 config files of course). No idea why you wouldn't be able to get it to work :?
  19. Mozilla has mouse gestures as well, personally i don't like them.
  20. My adsl provider has a ftp, which you can log into and get the stuff they have there at full rate at no cost. They have redhat 8.0 so it would only take about 2hr's to get all the iso's. Pity i don't want them, they have Red hat & debian but no mandrake :(
  21. It's your graphics card thats slowing you up there, really need a geforce 3 up from what i heard, certainly runs fast on a 1800XP 512mb ram, geforce 4 ti 4200 with 128mb win98 (runs fine untill it crashes, hence don't play it, waiting for the linux goodness).
  22. You can do the same thing with mozilla, just tick open unrequested windows and refresh the site. Have to do it sometimes for some lameass sites. Btw that css for mozilla is for banner ads, not popup windows, it just makes banner ads 10% visible(not very visible). makes it much easier to read sites without the glaring ads. You can of course make them 0% visible. You could probably block popups by this method.

    UT 2003 demo

apparantly you can get it to run on ati cards with a patch. nvidia cards work, and i think S3 cards as well, it S3's texture compression that was why ati cards were not working. And it does run flawlessly with a geforce 4
