  1. I got them last night, runs fine, now i just have to figure out the weird interface :)
  2. Thats .mozilla folder, you need to tick the show hidden files option in kde (in konquerer view -> show hidden files) if thats what you use. /home/john/.mozilla/default/g8ihi8pj.slt/Mail/ the mail folders are in here your username and .slt directory name will differ of course.
  3. Paul, the mandrake version doesn't let you open a second session either it just uses a script that checks if moz is already running , and if it is it opens another window not a new instance of mozilla. the script is /usr/bin/mozilla if you replace all references to the 1.1 libs and executables with the 1.2 versions you can use the icons to open new windows. either that or copy the mozilla script and edit it and save it as something different like mozilla-1.2.1 and create a desktop icon pointing to it.

    popup filtering

are you not unchecking the "open unrequested windows" in edit -> preferences -> advanced -> scripts & plugins ? This usually stops popups for me. If you mean "banner ads" you can add custom css formating to every page you view. just create a userContent.css file and you can put in prefs like so: [src*=ads.], [src*=ads/],[src*=adfarm.], [href*=adfarm] *, [src*=doubleclick], [href*=doubleclick.] *, [href*=rd.yahoo.com] [src*=yimg.com], [width=60][height=468], [width=468][height=60], [width=120][height=600] { -moz-outline: medium dotted red; -moz-opacity: 5%; } [type=application/x-shockwave-flash] { display: none !important; } //******************************************************************************** *****************/ That display none for shockwave flash stops alot of annoying ads but some sites require shockwave for navigation(idiots IMO**) so you have to remove the file and restart the browser to access these sites(i don't know any method of temporarily dissabling the userContent.css formating). Or just don't use the shockwave related bit, if you know css you can write your own filters. ** The only thing i think flash is good for is those little animations like "starwars gangsta rap" and thats it, i despise the use in site navigation, give me standard html with a sprinkling of javascript and css anyday.
  5. Thats hardly hard as i don't like the crap they produce anyway! As long as they don't have anything to do with "family guy", "red dwarf" & "star trek"

    Game Making

thanks for the links Also check out this link http://hem.passagen.se/opengl/glfw/ here is the discription: I wanna start making a master of orion clone(loved that game). But i will wait a few months to finish the apps i am making at work which are all php, before moving onto another language.
  7. I have not had this problem, i play over the internet mostly. There have been 2 patches for retail so far i think, you have both?
  8. I use the mandrake 9.0 version with no problems at all on 3 different systems, how much ram do you have?
  9. I haven't seen 9.0 in dicksmith in New Zealand either still 8.2 You can get the free downloadable edition at some places, but mandrake won't see a cent of that.

    rpmdrake

rpmdrake worked better in 8.2 imo, the gui package manager in 9.0 is a joke really. Urpmi is much better especially when you use the "easy urpmi" setup from plf, it works so well and is so easy :D http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php
  11. I don't know anything about crossover. I use the newest mplayer and it seems to play .mov's fine. I assume that the latest trailers for Star Trek Nemesis etc are in Sorensen format. What pisses me off is that the preview site only offer streaming format and not downloadable files, I can't get mplayer to stream in mozilla(not that i have put any effort into it) so i usually view source and figure out where the file is stored to grap it. They should use the xvid codec anyway, the quality to size ratio is great for that codec http://www.xvid.org/
  12. If i have to swap it would have to be Gentoo, certainly not SuSE, but i would rather continue with Mandrake if at all possible.
  13. But thats what users are for! Too provide hours of entertainment for administrators :P
  14. As a protest all 5 SCO linux users moved to different distros :P
  15. I agree i bought sams linux in 24hrs and i thought it was a complete waste of time & money
  16. Wow another New Zealand user, what with Paul, you & me that makes like 3 of us (i have a uni degree too). Soon we shall take over this board Muahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Yes it's hard to buy computer components when at uni, the subjects can be interesting but the pay really sux!. So you get a job after thats usually boring but the pay is better.
  17. I forgot to look last night, i was painting the computer room. The map files weren't uncompressed for me and i got the same error as you. Try that decompression script that spong gave, that should sort out your probs.
  18. sounds familiar the game can't find the "entry" level which is that annoying intro thing i believe. I think the installer didn't work quite right when i installed unreal T. had to run a script that extracted the rest of the files to the proper directories. Will have a look when i get home tonight.
  19. I do is a good section I have been playing urqan masters for a while. Star control 2 was/is a great game. 100+ meg of data, i don't remember it being so big. They have added a bunch of voice data i think.
  20. Nooooo! Win calc gives children cancer  :P Oh and i don't have a c: I removed the win partition as i never used it anymore.
  21. missing header is most likely or you have the wrong version of the header file/library Had the same probs with libsndfile with an older program there was an api change in the newer lib that mandrake had, had to remove it and install an older version to work (even though i had the rigth header file by name it had different function names so wouldnt work). Looks like SDL_mixer.h in your case You need to make sure the SDL_mixer.h and its corresponding library file are the right version and the compiler is looking for them in the right place. libSDL_mixer1.2-devel libSDL_mixer1.2 are the mandrake 9.0 versions you have these?
  22. gnome calc Is usually under office->accessories->GNOME calc the rpm that contains it is gnome-utils-2.0.2-4mdk
