  1. The first thing I would try is urpmi --auto-update --wget to tell urpmi to use wget instead of curl to download the packages. If that don't work I suggest you try using another mirror (using easy-urpmi or similar).
  2. What does the "hundreds of lines" tell you? Maybe run a urpmi --clean and then try again.
  3. Which kind of graphics does it have? ATI, nvidia, intel?
  4. Do you get any error message?
  5. MPlayer 1.0-1.rc1.10plf2007.0 Also, have you installed all necessary codecs? You can do this by installing the package win32-codecs that is in the plf-repository.
  6. it works fine in mplayer for me
  7. # urpmi.addmedia --help [...] --proxy - use specified HTTP proxy, the port number is assumed to be 1080 by default (format is <proxyhost[:port]>). --proxy-user - specify user and password to use for proxy authentication (format is <user:password>). [...]

    Installing Apache 2.2.4

Hi and welcome aboard. Here you have some basic info on how to prepare for installing software in Mandriva. After you have done what it says on that page use 'Install software packages' found in the Mandriva Control Center to search for and install apache.
  13. What didn't work? Do you get any error-message when installing or you mean you don't get to kdm?
  14. It only works for me if I disable page-styles, otherwise I can't access the dropdown-lists for some reason.
  15. KDE Control Center -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Shortcuts Search for "Walk Through Desktop List".
  16. A quick search on "msec mandriva" gives: http://club.mandriva.com/xwiki/bin/KB/SecureSmsec http://club.mandriva.com/xwiki/bin/KB/SecureSmsec2 On the ifw problem, it can be that the config-files you used was referring to that package (maybe some 'use_ifw = yes' or similar).
  17. Uninstall beagle maybe?
  18. How did you uninstall the program? When the files is in that folder it seems that you somehow have moved them thrash (as root).
  19. why do you run it as root? could be because of that...
  20. In KDE that can be changed in the control center. System>system menu's? I have Mandriva Free, so the menu can be a little different, but by running kcontrol from a terminal you will start the control center. Then go to Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard shortcuts where you search for 'log out'. Change that to none or something else. Then go to Input Actions also under Regional & Accessibility and make a new action (Keyboard shortcut -> Command/URL (simple)). I haven't tried this myself, so it may or may not work, but hopefully it will.
  21. In KDE that can be changed in the control center.
  22. happened for me too, but today when I updated I got opera 9.20 which fixed it...
  23. $ su Password: # urpmi alsaconf alsa-utils alsa-plugins This command installs the packages (programs) alsaconf alsa-utils alsa-plugins. (When using su -c I think the command has to be in the users path.)
