  1. KDM has a drak3d menu item. You can switch off 3D desktop there. Btw Beryl is better with AIGLX AFAIK.
  2. It is a shame since it has a very interesting atmosphere. Well the few what I've seen of it. Btrl demo runs just fine which is not a surprise since it's based on the Freespace 2 engine.
  3. FSF Releases "Last Call" Draft of GPLv3 (http://www.fsf.org/news/gpl3dd4-released)
  4. Would someone be kind to move this topic to the news forum?
  5. There was an error downloading the mirror list This means the Mandriva tool couldn't download the list of Mandriva mirrors from which you could have chosen an server. If your internet connection is working then you can use easyurpmi to add a mirror.
  6. Though my computer is far from being good it still well over exceeds these requirements but I still waited at least 3 or 4 minutes just to see the "Loading..." text to appear on the screen. Then I made the adjustments the game recommended and then waited at least 5 minutes for the intro which started but didn't finish as it should have AFAIK. Then nothing. I waited, went out to drink some water still nothing. So I just killed it. Hell they didn't convince me.Now let's see the Btrl demo.

  8. I think you should since you'll be the first to know about a new Arch release here.

    KDE

    Do you use 3D desktop?
  10. According to this it's just yet another desktop Linux distro. What's special about it?
  11. Or you can use gwenview which creates thumbnails and even displays animated gifs correctly.
  12. 3. That's what net_applet is for. It's an applet on KDE kicker or Gnome panel.
  13. This roadmap is for Gnome 2.20, 2.22 and even later releases. You can read it here. source: hup.hu
  14. When they don't announce it you mad at them (and you're right btw). Now that they announce it you'd be mad because they made a mistake. Hey at least we know about it. And at least it saved me the trouble so I'm grateful for this.

  16. On the boot menu you still should have the option to boot with the previous kernel. Choose that and see if that helps.
  17. See the full Release Announcement and Changelog.
  18. Thx wobo http://forum.club.mandriva.com/viewtopic.p...asc&start=0So dvalin (= Per Øyvind Karlsen) is rehired. Edit: http://club.mandriva.com/xwiki/bin/view/dvalin/FiredAndHired Oden wasn't layed off too.
  19. Failing? In which meaning of the word? Does it make any profit? No. Like other Linux companies. Does it make a good distro? Yes. What will happen if Mandriva goes bankrupt? Who knows? Time will tell.
  20. Because emails tend to get lost or just blocked etc. Adam gets all the customer emails or so he wrote, and some just doesn't get through. Not all emails are intentionally ignored.
  21. The Mandriva command like installer is called urpmi. So the easiest way is urpmi kernel-xxxxx The plain rpm command doesn't download packages automatically while urpmi does.
  22. A lot of us experienced the issues you described here Jaroslav. Although I only use Mandriva on a desktop system I had a terrible experience with Mandriva 2006 too. The good news is they are seem to change for the better if we don't count current lay-offs. Mandriva Spring works wonderfully give it a try if you have time. I encourage everybody who doesn't get response from their customer service to write on the club forum. Your problem won't be ignored there at least.
  23. I forgot one thing localization which wasn't automatic when I used PCLOS. Not a big deal for an experienced user since I just had to install the necessary kde-i18 package and there was a clear description about how to localize Firefox on their wiki. Also their installer worked only in English but AFAIK that installer was replaced by the Mandriva live installer since then.
