    Top Ten

I'm using a plan old D-Link router on a cable broadband connection. I have a DI-614+. And I've had no problems sharing files, making webservers, or even gameservers (only up to 6 people :D)

    IBM Server x345

You can head to http://www.mandrakelinux.com and check their hardware compatibily section. It'll list most compatibile hardware. Best of luck, SwiftDeath
  3. Yes MDK10 has pretty fuzzy networking wizards. Its best to use another thing to configure such as webmin or do it manually by editing the files. Its very hard to get working if mandrake doesn't recognize it from there. Unfortuatly I can't help you much more then this. Just try picking the right networking driver, (MDK normally finds the right one) and set it up manually. Best Of Luck, SwiftDeath
  4. Sweet. Theirs getting so many distros I'm losing track.
  5. I really think thats stupid that Microsoft can patent technology that your body has had and used for the past milenia.
  6. Darn... and I just download the fedora core 2 cds. lol
  7. Hmmm. I think'll I'll stick with gentoo for my next distro. And tyme is right, no matter how dumb they are, we need to point them in the right direction. Or they'll never use linux. Thats the bottom line.
  8. Sweet, I'm dling them from URPMI right now and I'm gonna try some since you said they don't take much space.
  9. Sweet, I'm adding that to my urpmi sources as well. Do you have any clue how to have it tell you what source your downloading from while in urpmi/rpmdrake.
  10. You should use ssh, I found it easier to use. It'll also run programs on your screen after you login and execute them their. You can start ssh by going ssh ipaddress. I have no clue how to do this in windows though. I think you'll need to use a program like PUTTY, or something.
  11. Its always a good idea to a the System Rescue Cd (A live cd distro based on fixing a *nix distro). Which had qpart which is good for editing paritions. Knoppix is also a good idea to have lying around.
  12. Good, could you please put -solved- in your subtitle. Thanks, SwiftDeath
  13. Yeah what they all said sounds like good advice. if you go to http://www.mandrakelinux.org they also have hardware compatibility list too.
  14. Congrats, messing with partitions can be a pain.
  15. Yeah, nice fair trade! Hmm I beleice I saw a distro called Mandows. I wonder if they'll go after that next. LOL
  16. go to www.linmodems.org and check if your modem is listed there. Best of luck, SwiftDeath
  17. Ok, I made some changes and the cdrom closes. Unfortunatly it doesn't recognize the rawread command even though I put the script the in the directory and it made it exectuable. I gotta download the Mandrake Isos again to test if my script burns them right. Here are my modifications. Thanks for the help everyone. Thanks Everyone, SwiftDeath
  18. Gnome, but sometimes I go in flux too play games. I may switch soon cause gnome is showing up my desktop and its driving me crazy! lol
  19. Hmmm. I think wine will eventually pass cedega in game development. Because wine focuses on the base while transgaming focuses on the direct problem so they only do a quick fix. Also, it seems that transgaming now my using our dollars to fund xbox and mac funding which I find quite sad. I hope that cedega lives to all its hype, all the forums it seems it was just a marketing scheme to get some more buyers, But I am happy with it because it runs War3 and Medal Of Honor : Breakthrough.
  20. Don't you mean ifconfig eth0 key <<your wireless encryption key>> Sorry if you were right but I thought the ipconfig commands for linux were ifconfig. And best of luck with your problem, SwiftDeath P.S. I'll probably be using this post for reference in the future when I want to get wireless on my dad's laptop once I convince him to allow me to put some linux power on it.
  21. Thanks guys, this seems like helpful information. I'll spend a couple hours working on it. And I'll also make some different versions for different uses. Like maybe a fedora and an industrial version (for mass-burning a certain distro). Hmmm, maybe I could even get it to read info from a different file. So I could make a config file. Thanks for the help guys, SwiftDeath
  22. Hmmm, I've been getting a very similiar problem. Before playing a dvd, try going into (in totem) edit > preferences and pick the right cdrom drive for your optical device path. That did the trick for me everytime. Best of luck, SwiftDeath
  23. Yes sometimes servers are doing matience and stuff. A couple days ago, I was using this site as my plf when they were changing servers, and nothing worked at all.
