    SDL compile problem

VDrift is in the Mandriva repos. You can install it with your gui package manager or with urpmi.
  2. Hardware-accelerated fullscreen works!
  3. That's a small / partition for KDE. Do you have room for a larger one?
  4. I'm using Debian, so this may vary a bit for you? Go to your ~/.thumbnails directory and delete them all. Then go to Applications > System Tools > Configuration Editor > desktop > gnome > thumbnailers > application@pdf > uncheck enable. Do this for every file type you don't want to preview.
  5. Here's an old thread at LQ that may be of some help in understanding the protocol: linuxquestions.org
  6. Have you installed the 'perl-Device-SerialPort' from the same feed that spinynorman has linked for you?

    Battle Tanks

Quoted from this article: linux.com The game is already packaged for Ubuntu and openSUSE, but it's very easy to build for Mandriva. This game must be built with scons build system, so you must install scons first. It doesn't take long to build... it takes longer to figure out how to play, and win. :) You can get it here: btanks.sourceforge

    Gtkmm

Open your software package manager and install the gtkmm and libgtkmm packages you need.
  9. My bad, it's not in my 2007 Thanks, I'll go edit that.
  10. If you're using Mandriva 2007, there's no /etc/modules.config file. Do you mean /etc/modprobe.preload? What version are you using?
  11. You 'may' be able to use the 'Smart Boot Manager', but I'm not sure if it currently allows you to boot from a USB drive? You will have to check on that yourself. Smart Boot Manager You may also find something to help you here: wiki.mandriva.com

    Printer problem

Have you tried inserting the CD or DVD that you have installed your system with? hplip is on your installation CD and or DVD
  13. Hello, and welcome to the MUB. In order for us to help you, we need some information about your system. So could you please give us some info about your hardware, and what version of Linux you're using? Also, please open a terminal and post the output of lspci |grep Network and uname -a
  14. Without having access to the 'old' binary that you are trying to use, this does indeed look like the best solution. If you have the retail version of this, you should have (or have access to), the windows version? It may be easier to run the windows version with wine? This is just a thought, but have you looked at opensource alternatives? open source graphics utilities koctive mathstudio and links to other math-related sites
  15. This will not improve the sound quality of some of the .wav files that you are having problems with, however I believe you will like how easy it is to use. urpmi audiokonverter Then you simply right-click on the .wav > actions > convert to
  16. Good point. Then it is still (in my opinion) very wrong! We are still off topic, but... For the record, can you show me real evidence of this? Or is this your opinion again?
  17. Damn, I was trying to stay out of this. But, now you are wrong! If you increase the community involvement, you 'will' ease the burden of the current (paid) staff, opensource == community. Also as tyme has already stated “that is a whole different discussion and one we certainly shouldn't burden this thread with”.
  18. I'm guessing you're using Mandriva, but what version? If you're using 2007.1 it should be available with urpmi, if not, then you will have to use another rpm, from another source. So what version?
  19. How are you mounting your memory card with your script? Here's an example of mine: cd /mnt/removable ls I have: flash-p/ music/ seatools_cli.tar* then do cp -R music /home/greg/ it will not return to a prompt until the writing is completed. If you want to do this with a shell script, you will have to edit it accordingly.
  20. With Mandriva 2007, if I right-click on a usb-storage-icon, it asked if I would like to 'Safely Remove', and it will not do so until all writing has stopped.
  21. What and where is the other partition? Please post the output of fdisk -l and cat /etc/fstab
  22. I believe (IMHO), that this will do what you need: PeaZip
  23. If you are sure that this is an ISA card: You will need to install isapnptools and isapnptools-devel with your package manager or urpmi. Then if you reboot it may pick it up? If not, look in /lib/modules/your-kernel-version/kernel/sound/isa/sb, the module should be there? I would suggest trying snd-sbawe with, as root modprobe snd-sbawe then with your gui hardware manager, or in a terminal as root using alsamixer see if your card is working. If not, try another module in the same directory. When you have found a working module, you can add it to /etc/modprobe.preload so it loads at boot. Please let us know it you have any questions? Please post the output of dmesg
  24. Very good point dexter, and I can't over emphasize starting with an 'old' kernel, and starting here: CompleteNewbies, or you will become overwhelmed with all the code in a new kernels.
  25. Some dvd burners are more particular about the media they use than others. This can sometimes be corrected with a firmware update, if one is available. You could also try a different media, I have personally found that DVD-R works better for me when burning iso files. YMMV. Remember to burn slow, I use 2 or 4x at the most.
