  1. Thanks Greg for that - I was just being dumb !! Got that sorted but now seem to have a problem finding something called Perl(X10::ActiveHome) Where do you guys find all these rpms i just can't be very good at searching ! Any help would be much appreciated Cheers Nick

  5. I have tried typing in the text that it says in a terminal window but get the same messages as detailed above for all, ie main, main update, etc Has anyone got any ideas on what i am doing wrong ? Cheers Nick
  6. ok - i found where it is but when i used easy urpmi to add the media i get errors.... ....retrieving failed: wget failed: exited with 1 unable to access hdlist file of "main_backports", medium ignored unable to update medium "main_backports" removing medium "main_backports" Any ideas guys (thanks for your help so far on this) Cheers Nick

  9. Hi Jon, I don't know why YUM.... I wanted to install pidgin and that was one thing that would help me do it - but i just having problems all over the place - problem is i have never used linux (it would seem that I am thick lol ) I am using mandriva 2007 but just can't understand how to install anything !!! so any idots guide that will help me is much appreciated Cheers Nick
  10. Hi all, Please help a total newbie ....... arghhhhh I am trying to install YUM using the following commands at the command line - but when I get to the ./configure command I get the following . "./configure: No such file or directory" These were the commands I was following.... As root, cd ~ mkdir setups cd setups wget http://linux.duke.edu/projects/yum/d...m-2.0.7.tar.gz tar -xvzf yum-2.0.7.tar.gz cd yum-2.0.7 ./configure make make install Hope someone can help me Cheers Nick [moved from Software by spinynorman - welcome aboard :)]
