  1. Yep the Linux NTFS driver works fine for reading (and copying from) NTFS. Its just writing to them that causes problems.

    Camera on USB

Does your camera have removable storage (eg flash media). If so I would suggest buying a card reader. It took ages for me to get my camera to work in Linux, but the card reader worked first time.
  3. Alternatively you could run the network setup wizard from the Mandrake Control Centre. Part of the setup is choosing the domian and host.
  4. I subscribe to Linux Format (www.linuxformat.co.uk) and its pretty good. Plus they put MDK 8.2 on their cover DVD. So no changing disks during the install. :)
  5. There is a project based at Soureforge that does a CD based version of Mandrake. http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtual-linux/
  6. The box sets also come with technical support. Exactly what you get depends on which one you buy. I think you also get a Mandrake case sticker. Plus there are extra applications included (eg StarOffice). So it really comes down to whether you want technical support and the extra apps.
  7. The reason its normally easier to install Windows first is that it over writes Lilo. THis means you can't boot back in to Linux afterwards. This is easy enough to fix as long as you have the original install CD or a Linux boot disk. But there is no required order to install them in.
  8. The xbox is just a PC with the ability to change of the parts taken away. Shame I don't have one though, wouldn't mind trying to get MDK to work on it. :)
  9. SB Lives have good driver support, so worth a try. I recently swapped mine for an ABit AU10, which also seems quite happy under MDK 9.
  10. Do you get the same result when trying to print other things (eg images)? In the print dialog box are there multiple entries, is what are they?
  11. I have a raid controller built into my motherboard, and it takes ages for urpm to open uop in MDK 9. I do not know if its the RAID controller causing it. (Can't exactly remove the card).
  12. Ironic that they should be called bills, could this be further evidence of Microsoft taking over the world?
  13. Is it that they don't approve, or just that they'd be sued if they did it?
  14. What did happen to Mandrake Freq? It just sort of disappeared.
  15. Depends what you want to run on it. If you don't want KDE or GNOME, then it should be fine.
  16. I'll have to wait till I'm back at Uni before I download any more ISOs. :(
