jeanrev
Hi all How come the abiword site doesn't give any information on howto install the last version ? I had to send a mail to have access to the FAQ page and there is apparently no forum about their products anybody interested in the abiword install ? liquidzoo
I would suggest following Pzatch's suggestion and urpmi the package. It will get all of the deps for you automatically.
SoulSe
Just adding my vote for Abiword! It is, IMO, a lot more stable than OOo Writer, it is also less bloated, seems to handle MS Word conversions better and... has a better looking icon :P

sitor
I agree to that. Setting up urpmi sources is thé thing to do to get everything out of Mandrake. That makes me love Mandrake. Want some SW, just indicate your box which one and (most of the time this just works, only very rarely a dependency or signature is not OK) it gets downloaded and installed. You only have to start using it. SW installation made easy! Ciao, Sitor
ac_dispatcher
As I dawn my flame vest If you have to have it just use MS Office97 in Linux via wine. http://frankscorner.org/modules.php?op=mod...artid=97&page=1 Edited May 17, 2004 by ac_dispatcher
ac_dispatcher
Before I get too flamed for the above... I use OpenOffice.org for everything. I dont have Window$ installed on my Laptop. Somtimes OOo doesnt like to open word file just right. So I will open them in MS word2000 and convert them to another format like word97 or .rtf. I wonder why Mandrake don't provide you with at least main and contrib set up out-of-the-box?
