      Mandriva Official Documentation

Official documentation for extant versions of Mandriva can be found at doc.mandriva.com.   Documentation for the latest release may take some time to appear there. You can install all the manuals from the main repository if you have Mandriva installed - files are prefixed mandriva-doc.

      Forum software upgrade   10/29/17

So you may have noticed the forum software has upgraded !!!
A few things that have changed. We no longer have community blogs (was never really used) We no longer have a portal page.
We can discuss this, and decide whether it is needed (It costs money) See this thread: Here

    thanks for the tip BVC...
  4. Hi all, The question is in the title : howto open a file "named.rar" under Linux ? Any tool for this task ? I receivedit by mail thanks
  5. Microsoft & Toshiba collaboration

Hard to believe but : No one in the Linux community is apparently able to make a list (how short can it be) of the laptops manufacturers free from the Microsoft monopoly and especially this Linux laptops site I consulted months ago B)
  6. It is high time for the Linux community to make a list of the laptops that can run Linux without Microsoft interfering ! I just bought a laptop to demonstrate Linux to the world and found the following : http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi...R&ID=0000003703 since january I was asking for some advice on the french Alionet : http://www.alionet.org/index.php?showtopic=1384&st=0 Alas I could not find the proper information at that time We are helping Microsoft by not indicating the free laptops constructors
  7. Hi, Have you got any problem during the installation of MDK 10.0 ? I haved mandrake 9.1 installed on my laptop Compaq Armada 100S and it's the best OS for that laptop I had problems to install the new applications versions and stopped it I never could install the mandrake 10.0 on this laptop or my other PC's I have keyboard & mouse freezing stiff at any step during the installation or afterwards without any messages so I went to suse & I am very happy with it I wonder if I should try mandriva 10.1 ? I would be happy to use again Mandriva which was my first Linux OS to operate safely
  8. Mandrake 9.1 the best

OO.org 1.1 is better & faster than OO.1.0 the question is still there : can I install OO.1.1 on MDK 9.1 without problems ? In this case, should I uninstall OO.1.0 first ? the last openoffice is more userfriendly than the first issue
  9. which PC is compatible with mandrake 10 + ?

carrefour doesn't sell them anymore they were really basic machines and I noticed the linux computers are usually sold at a higher price than the others Chris M : your address is OK but they only deliver in the UK Compaq A rmada 100S under MDK 9.1, mylaptop informations : [jean@localhost jean]$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. 10. which PC is compatible with mandrake 10 + ?

the problem is a steady freeze of mouse and keyboard at any time during the install process of mandrake 10.0 on my three computers (nothing special about them) I tried more than one set of install C's to no avail.. i tried more than ten times with each I just wonder why i seem to be the only one with install troubles on MDK .... I have just reinstalled my ompaq laptop Armada 100S with MDK 9.1... I have been working 2 years with the suse 9.0, 9.1 and 9.2 with no install problems thanks for your help
  11. Mandrake 9.1 the best

My laptop Compaq Armada 100S can only accept mandrake 9.1 installed I have tried newer MDK versions without any success, also Suse, ubuntu, knoppix, Beatrix, mepis, aurox etc... my question : can I install a better version of openoffice ? if Yes, How do I do it ? should I remove the OO 1.0 first ? help please, I don't want to throw my laptop away with the 128 Mo RAM... everything works fine
  12. Since I bought a new PC 2 years ago I was able to install Mandrake 9.1 then impossible to install MDK 10.+ It was a good idea to propose a new PC with mandrake for 299 euros but it should be better to point out another couple of PC's one for the basic beginner, one for the family and one for the special purposes and games this is the least Linux should do if we want to compete on fair grounds with MS the majority of windows users, where I belong, is not able to choose a proper compatible Linux PC I had to turn to suse 9.0 then 9.1 which accept my video card "ATI Radeon IGP 320 (M)" but not completely so it remains a slight flickering of the screen I will keep windows until I can find a ready made PC fully compatible with Linux how long will it take for Linux to indicate the type of PC usable with Linux ?
