Darkelve
You forgot 'Adventure'; as in 'pure' adventure, 'quest'. Like King's quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Monkey Island, ... Some say the distinction between 'Adventure' and RPG has faded, but I don't agree. You can mostly still determine whether a game is RPG or Adventure. Exceptions are probably games like Quest for Glory or Morrowind. But I resent the notion that the border between RPG and adventure *just because* all (popular) games are using a 3D game world at this moment. RPG's are cool though. kmc77
FFT is my all time favorite. I started my gaming experience with the original FF on NES and have loved every one since. Side note - I hope Square brings future FF's over to Linux.

Padma
Turn-Based Strategy games. The premier of which is Civilization III. Unfortunately, the developer has stated in no uncertain terms that DirectX will be their methodology of choice. So no direct ports, there. :( (Transgaming/WineX, here I come....) Darkelve
Does anyone here still remember the 'classic' adventures/rpg's like Kinq's Quest, Space Quest, Gabriel Knight, ... that seem to be lost? Darn you, 3D FPS! I ban thee to thy uncreative grave!!

Ghil Vertefeuille
Monkey Island was cool, Gabriel Knight 3 was excellent, King's quest 3 is a generation masterpiece... but still, I really like 3D fps ;)
Darkelve
Monkey Island was cool, Gabriel Knight 3 was excellent, King's quest 3 is a generation masterpiece... but still, I really like 3D fps ;) Well, you can certainly have your 3D fps, no prob. Problem is, I can't have my 2D/3D adventure 'quest' games :( If you think King's Quest III is a generation masterpiece, have you tried Gabriel Knight I? It's probably one of the best adventure games ever made... I mean, even with those 'old' graphics, the quality STILL dripped of it. tyme
RPG's.... I'm a huge fan of the Fallout series.... and guess what...Fallout 3 is back on the list! a little humour about it... my second favorite type of games are various flight-type games. that is, the descent series and the freespace series (which, as we all know, game out of descent...sort of) Edited April 16, 2004 by tyme
