aRTee
Easylinux (in 98) Corel Linux (incl WP via wine - which actually could print to all the same printers, it included the full database afaicr) Mandrake from 6.something, then from 8.0 all versions until 10.0 OE (CE updated) Inbetween I used/tried RH 8, Mandrake Move and I also use various versions of Knoppix. At work I used RH 7.3 for a short while. Normally on Win2K though, but if I manage to get everything working I will use Mandrake 10.0 OE and hopefully get some colleagues hooked too - maybe build a live-cd for some or so... Oh, and lots of the HP compute servers running HP-UX will get replaced by Opterons running RHAS in the upcoming months, if everything goes well. Not that I have anything to do with those except as a user (and critic.. :D )

Ghil Vertefeuille
I first started my computing experience with Norton Commander. My father tried to get me to Windows 3.11, but I was prefering Norton Commander (didn't like the mouse, prefered the DOS command :P) then I did Windows 3.11 to play some games, after that it's been Win95. I still prefered Norton Commander at the time lol. then came 98se, after that XP. then I came to know that Linux existed two years ago...that's when I decided I would go with it (but didn't actually tried something until 6 month ago) then I tried MDK, 8.2,9.0,9.1,9.2. then I tried Debian Sarge, before going to MDK 10.0 CE. after that I got Knoppix, and then SuSE 9.0 download, before returning to 10.0 CE :P
iphitus
bvc: you play CMR4 too? kickass game!!! Im hanging out for Gran TUrismo 4 with the GT force pro sterring wheel, 900 degress of sensetivity, force feedback, gear shift, 300 AU dollars of coolness. Anyway, SuSE live Eval was my first experience of Linux, except X kept crashing. I for some unknown reason persisted. Mandrake 8.2 Mandrake 9.0 Mandrake 9.1 LFS Debian Woody (aka, stable, aka old) Debian SId (aka unstable aka cool!!) Mandrake 9.2 Arch 0.6 Ive used knoppix occassionally too. iphitus

It's my server. i386 16Mhz 8Mb Ram2001 or 2002: Several months running a selfmade mixture of microlinux, old redhats and old debians. It was a great xperience Old IBM 166Mhz 256Mb ram2001-2002: Slackware 8.1 - 9.0 P2 3??MHz2002-present: Slackware 8.1 - 9.0; just removed the HD from the old Ibm and put it into this computer P-IV 2.8GHz2003: Mandrake 9.12003-present: Mandrake Cooker P-IV-HT 3.2GHz2004: Mandrake 9.1Two days ago: Mandrake 10.0 CE Ofcourse during this time I've tested several different distros several times, and maybe I've to add CP/M, MSDOS x.x, MSWINDOWS x.x since 198? till now. Sarissi
Wasn't sure till I checked, but I have a copy of Redhat 6.1 that came with a book. Never used it. I actually started with Mandrake Linux 7.0 Powerpack Edition. Mandrake: 7.0 PE (okay, but not that good) 7.1 PE (better) 7.2 PE (better) 8.0 PE (better) 8.1 PE (better, but still non-working packages) 8.2 PE (FINALLY a fully functional release!!!) 9.0 PE (only the upgrade method worked right) 9.1 PE (nice and stable. rock solid) 10.0 CE (everyone knows the teething problems here. Still much better.) Mandrake Move (pretty darn good live distro) SuSE: 9.0 Pro (don't like NOT being able to mount all of my Windows fat32 partitions) MS-DOS and Windows: 2.11.03 (on Tandy 2000 FD) I had 768KB main memory and all of it was available. 3 - 6.2 (on various PC Clones) Win 3.1 (not 3.11) Win98 (first Edition) on notebook. Win98SE Plan on getting: Either Win2K or XP Pro (depends on the 3D CGI software) Mandrake Linux 10.0 Powerpack Edition (Official) SuSE 9.1 Pro (want the included 64 bit version) Have to get Win4lin version 5 (have version 4) I got interest in Linux, back in 1998, though it wasn't until Mandrake 7.0 that I thought it was worth trying. I bought a Powerpack Subscription begining with 8.2 and ending with 9.1. Decided to skip 9.2. Now I will buy a new Powerpack Subscription, beginning with 10.0 The only ones I have downloaded the ISOs for are 10.0 CE and Mandrake Move. Linux became my primary OS, as of Mandrake 8.
HJ
Redhat 7.2 (for like maybe 2 days, just when I wanted to see what linux was like) Then a year later.. Mandrake 8.1 Mandrake 8.2 Mandrake 9.0 Slackware 8.2 Gentoo (where I'm happy and will prolly stay for a looonnnggg time) I've tinkered with lots of distros, but those are the ones I've stuck with for more than a month. roadwarrior
LOL, I've got you all beat as far as how far back I go with Linux. The first version I ran (briefly, just to see what it was) was a boot floppy with kernel .99 that I found on a Simtel CD (IIRC), probably around 1992. The first version that I bought was Yggdrasil back in about 1993.
