roland
Hi, Please can you advice me a good GUI MP3 player with playlist, random and continuous playing ? K3B can do the job but it's limited in time and can't play randomly or continuously, LimeWire can do the job too but you can't save the playlist, Totem has no playlist AFAIK, Something else ? Thanks roland Edited January 5, 2004 by roland

mtweidmann
Xmms is my favourite, but Noatun the KDE media player is also quite good in my experience. There was once an attempt to port Winamp to Linux but I don't know what came of that.

Guest kuchwas
There was once an attempt to port Winamp to Linux but I don't know what came of that. That is Zinf. It was named FreeAmp and then changed to Zinf. Some skins on the Zinf site still show FreeAmp. My favorite is XMMS for streaming, CDs, and a simple playlist, then used with MadMan when I need a jukebox. Juk is nice, I really like it, but only uses arts (analog) and cannot use alsa. I have alsa sound with a killer card and 5.1 dolby digital surround!

It was really slow and you couldn't move the windows without this really spastic skippy stuff on the screen. Pretty bad, I'll stick to my XMMS with the Winamp default skin. :)
Guest kuchwas
It's a little old: http://www.dawnload.net/alternative_platfo...p_for_linux.cfm Would not rebuild for mandrake. Install would not run when installed under cooker.
iphitus
XMMS!!!! Its on CD 1. Used to be installed by default with the MM packages but some idiot took it out. DragonMage
I agree that whoever is thinking to take xmms out of the multimedia selection is an idiot.. It's usually the first audio player I think of when using linux.
