  1. I found any of the 7000, 7002, and 7004 drivers to work with my Canon, but I only found this out by trying every single canon driver Mandy has. So, if non of the default drivers work, then google it, and if google fails, then there is always Turboprint as a last resort.

    Thanks for the update.
  3. Nice looking Desktop you got there.
  4. I personally don't use the startup file fluxbox provides. I made my own autostart.sh script which works the same. I use Esetroot to set my background which enables transparency, but you have to add then line: In your init file located in /home/usernmame/.fluxbox Here's an example of what I have in my autostart: You may find this to work better. Hey iphitus: I have to say I just installed Flux 0.9.9 from having 0.1.14 and I have to say it's extemly sexy. It's bloody awsome!
  5. I'm pretty happy with my Samsung.
  6. Will it work if you put the file rpnp.so in your mozilla plugins folder? It should create the mime type automatically.
  7. I would think it is probably the same with any of the i series.
  8. There's a lot of ways to customize this. Freshmeat has a lot of themes for this. You have dockapps, gkrellm, ROX, gdesklets. I'm not sure what kind of problem you are getting when it comes to installing dockapps. There are many posts where you can get a lot of great ideas on how to customize it. The Fluxbox website is also a great resource on how to customize, configure etc. I believe iphitis also details how to do this in the faq's. If you check the post your desktop thread, you'll see many many examples on customizing Fluxbox and explainations how to do this or what to use. There's a lot to know about Flux.
  9. Also Nvidia is the easiest to get working on a linux box.
  10. Best do another topic for that problem. Also which WM are we talking about and how is it not working?
  11. Will it work back at the other pc? At least that will let you know if the HD still works or not. And did you mention you made sure the jumper was set correctly? Sorry if I am going over the obvius as I can't think of why it is not picking it up.
  12. Have you tried different ide cable for that HD?
  13. I haven't heard of that. Normally when you recompile the kernel, you'll have to reinstall the latest nvidia drivers. Unless with this one it's different.
  14. Best way to find out is to try them all. I'm a Flux user. I find out very easy to use and configure once you get over the awkwardness.
  15. No problem! I'm glad I found the right driver before paying any money for it.
  16. I prefer keeping those files hidden so somone else doesn't go in there and muck things up.
  17. Make the DVD drive the master and your CDRW the slave.

    anti-virus

I'm surprised that's even on there. Do what Soulse says. Just get a firewall if you have broadband and that's it. I've never heard of a Linux box getting infected.
  19. Or from KDE, cd over to /home/username/.kde/Autostart and symlink to the programs you want to run. If your using another WM then mentioned, let us now as each one is different.
  20. I just may need to get my hands into Libranet again
  21. Also, noob's may not know the resources to search for answers. Before Linux, I didn't know much about google. On the old, old MUB, no faq's or Tip and Tricks. I think this bored has done the best it can by offering noob's faq's, Tip and Tricks, rules to go by before posting questions. So to say someone is lazy for asking what's obvious to us, a frequently asked question, we can't assume they are asking because they are lazy and a forum is available to help people and if a noob asks a repeated question, we answer it, we teach them, we tell them about how to use resources available to them to find answers. If the aim is to help Linux overtake MS, become mainstream, then we need to help people. For the most part, I trust they do research before deciding they want to tame Linux so I don't believe they want us to do everything for them inclluding wiping their asses.
  22. Well Mandy 10 official should be more stable then CE. and overall it seems faster to ne. One thing I notice though is that KDE is slower, but I think that is a KDE issue, not a Mandrake issue, but I use Fluxbox anyway so no big deal.
  23. Hi phunni, the dockapp on the lower right hand side is the disco tux plugin for xmms. It may be on the cd's, but may have to get it seperatly. I don't remember. Flux is very fast. It uses less resources then WindowMaker. As for putting apps in the panel, by default you can't. YOu would have to use ROX or gdesklets . It's really easy to use, once you get over how different it is and it's highly configurable and like phunni, I always return to it.
