  1. xpdf and acrobat readt ghostview and probably more apps than gsview can read those files. I don't know a fix so i'd say just use one of the others urpmf libgs.so should tell you what package has it.
  2. i refuse to join till they change those damn fonts on the main page. I can wait for the isos or someone can change a few lines of css and mdk gets another club member
  3. http://archives.mandrakelinux.com/cooker/2003-09/ Alright! GGo Maandrake. It's about time those guys thought of themselves a little bit. I'm not a club member but at least now i have some incentive to join. Altough i was going to join and buy the powerpack anyways
  4. gnome 2.4 is already in cooker so yeah, kde is still 3.1.3 and oo.o is still rc4 (but rc5 source packages are reportedly on some mirrors sooooo...) 2.6-test5 in in contrib (and it booted a lot further than 2.6-test4 :)
  5. yeah, i bought RC2 for XP $9.99. Bastards. I didn't know any better back then
  6. that's another great valve game i definitely won't be playing (the otehr is the original HL which the refuse to port and i refuse to run under wine anymore).
  7. ah yes, the re-virginizer module. /me moves on It also has this prog that allows you to load modules into the kernel on the fly which i find to be much better than the *mod* prog
  8. isn't 2.3.5 devel version? if you're using gnome from cooker 2.4 has been released.
  9. i was plannig to do this too since fubar and Pious won't let me reboot to upgrade 9.2. bastards. only differnce is i would use a 9.2 mirror as my source for rpms and not cooker
  10. easy there tiger I don't "flow" that way.
  11. i've got one on my site too. it's for xcdroast http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/obennett/welcome.htm tutorials section
  12. Well, I'm not your typical newbie. I'll ask questions if I need to, but so far I haven't found anything I can't figure out :D and I'm not really a newbie. Just new here.... i was just messin with ya. come to #mub and i'll do it even more
  13. that's what i was looking at. i can't get it to display in konqueror or mozilla though. What I'm trying to do is set the background of a <th> header but it won't work wherever i put it.
  14. actually it does work. I was linked to the wrong style sheet which is why it wouldn't show up unless i did an inline style. I can't however seem to get this to work background-image: url() could anyone try this and see if its supported.
  15. just checked and realized it doesn't work for me either. it only works when placed between the head tags <head> p { text-indent: 1cm; } </head>
  16. because css is the way man. far ouuuuuuuuuut. and because css makes it easier.
  17. You've only made 8 posts here and at least three of em are in offtopic! They've got to be doing something right. Now me on the other hand ... :D Customer service? You've got it right here! and if you give me you e-mail i'd be more than happy to send you a message (just 1 reply though :)) But seriously mandrake's come a long way in three years. Three years ago, dvd playback needed a degree, usb mice were toys of the nerdy, X looked like a 2 year old put it together. A lot's happened in three years and FYI MDK has been under new management for a while. As for the adware, like Gael said, it's always been there. I've always seen it, I've always not wanted to see it and you know what? I turned it off. yeah. There's a button that says Details that you can click on and see which packages are getting installed. The only difference w/ 9.2 is that you won't be getting MDK adds you'll be getting company X's adds. Now the screensavers ... that sucks. That's new and that's post-install, and that will probably be a pain to remove. I think i read somewhere that there won't be adds in screensavers though so ...
  18. it at mozdev.org. there´s lot´s of cool stuff over there, so check it out. mouse gesture prog @ http://optimoz.mozdev.org/
  19. oh yeah, i forgot about kmplayer. I don't like it cause it's even less stable than mplayer when player videos. It also doesn't automatically adjust size to take up whole of window (on sites other than quicktime) when playing video like the mplayer-plugin.
  20. the 1.1.16 is really only telling you what version the config file came with. Since he edited it the new urpmi would not overite his file, instead it would save as .rpmnew or if he used rpmdrake there would be the option to delete, leave alone or use, the new config. i have this problem in openoffice where if i send one use one printer settup nothing prints (jobs are still there). but if i use file menu to select mdk configured printer it works. i can give you a screenshot if this is cryptic.
  21. some cd players can't play cd-rws and then there are older stereos can play cd-rws. It just depends on what you're using to burn and where you want to play it.
  22. maybe the new version of mdk will solve your prob. you don't have to use mandrake though, use whatever works for you. (we're not biased in helping people here)
