  1. If you follow the instructions for Gold on this link they will sort you out for the install - it worked for me anyway... As far as playing the videos go - it is possible using an external video player. I've got it installed myself, but I can't remember what it's called. I'll take a look and post back Edit: just to warn you - nwn performance on linux can be a bit funny sometimes. For me it's almost always brilliant and then occasionally goes a bit jumpy. Your experience may be better/worse than mine. Best thing is to install it and see how you get on. People here may be able to help you improve things
  2. Greetings HugoLino! Welcome to the board and I'm glad to see that you've found it helpful to be here :D I'm going to move this to everything linux though - as it's not a specific gaming thread...
  3. ooh - where can I find out when/where these are? I wanna go and ask these questions! And others...
  4. What desktop do you use? It's probably in the menu somewhere (under networking probably) If not then you can try alt-f2 which brings up a run box and you can just enter gaim Not certain if this works in gnome, but it does in KDE - pretty sure it does in gnome asa well. Can anyone confirm that?
  5. never mind - I figured it out =(cell address) Why couldn't I figure that out during the half hour I was trying before I posted...?
  6. I am trying to put together a spreadsheet in OO with 3 sheets. There is one cell on all the sheets which needs to have exactly the same content (a date). i.e. whatever I put in sheet 1 should also appear on sheets 2 and 3 Anyone know how I do that?
  7. On some apps (notably openoffice - but not only that) any dialog box that appears is missing anything on the far right and bottom of the box. What I mean is that I have a complete dialog box, but I can't see anything that would normally be on the far right or the bottom - the box i basically not big enough to fit all it's content in. I can't resize the box either. I am running fluxbox devel on gentoo with gtk 2.4.1 (or something like that) Anyone got any ideas?
  8. what VM are you using? The Sun one?
  9. evolution isn't so good for encryption - other clients recieve the encrypted mail as an attachment which they don't recognise and therefore don't decrypt Can't sylpheed (or sylpheed-claws) do encryption? I've just checked my installation of sylpheed-claws and it does seem to support encryption, although I haven't tested it...

    KSim

Try doing whereis KSim and see what happens. If it doesn't work play around with the case of the program name
  11. if you run dmesg | more then it will allow you to view the output at your leisure instead of having it all scroll off the screen. Obviously if you are using a console in X then this may not be an issue as you can scroll up - but you may find it a helpful option...
  12. You may or may not find make oldconfig the most helpful. Personally I find it has an uncomfortable interface and would use make menuconfig. The advantage to oldconfig though is that it points out all the new config options. Not sure which you'd prefer - just pointing out the options...
  13. no idea - it isn't anyway (although I do find that an enourmaous amount of time seems to disappear when I'm playing it :D ) 4D is just what it's called - not my idea!
  14. It's probably just a normal kernel with the open source version of the drivers. I'm not sure if they give the same problem or not - does anyone else know? NeoXP: it doesn't matter what version of X you've got - it should all be fine. These are kernel modules. The version of the modules would be almost completely up to date since it is 2.6.3
  15. A number of times I've seen people with ATI cards mention that they sometimes get wierd colouring after switching between virtual consoles - I have also had exactly this problem. I discovered today, that starting Dosbox (so I can play Prince of Persia 4D ;) ) fixes the colours. I have no idea why and I suspect that there is an easier way of doing it that simply starting dosbox - but I found it very interesting. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this might be developed into a useable solution?
  16. we need to be able to have a complete dekstop over the internet, so just admin is not enough... Thanks for all the suggestions anyway - I'll take a look at some of those...
  17. get a palm and buy a GPS package for it :D There are (apparently) GPS packages for Linux as well that will work with your handheld - but I haven't used them and can't comment on how good they are.
  18. anyone figured this out yet? I've tried installing a couple of games that are apparently supported with no success. I simply get told that the setup exectuables are not for running in dos...

    Cannot install UT2004

split this from here - should increase the likelihood of answers...
  21. OK - I'm splitting this thread as there are 3 people with UT2004 problems, but they seem to me to be 3 different problems. It's going to a lot cleaner and easier to help peopl if these are seperate threads IMHO If you are looking for missing posts then check here It appears I accidentally deleted one of the new threads - for which I apologise. I will pm the "original" author and get him/her to create a new thread.
  22. option 2 is definately better - digital sound gives you so much better quality if nothing else. The problem is that you will need to do it in windows. The linux software is getting there, but it's simply not good enough yet. Audio processing is a hefty task for your pc so you need as much processing power and memory as you can afford. You will also need to buy a decent sound card which can handle audio - 24bit ideally and 90 - something mhz (I forget exactly) A USB soundcard might be the best way to go, it will help to avoid the sound of your fans etc being included in all your recordings...
  23. you need to install an RPM for libopenal - this will either be in one of the RPM sources (the best way to install RPMs) or you can probably find this on rpmfind.net
  24. OK - well I'll just have to give it a go myself and see if it's difficult or not. Will post my results...
