  1. These are your RPM sources. (needed for updates, URPMI and to lessen the whole dependency run around thing :D) They can be set up easily HERE, although those that really know LINUX (I'm a realatively new user myself) could tell you how to do it pretty easily from a command line.
  2. After upgrade, I've got the same problem but with the Z705 model. My system recognizes the driver and I get no errors when I use the drake. If I can figure it out, I'll let you know - If any one else has any tips, I would appreciate it, and I'm sure marsh will also.

    Invasive Overnet

Not really sure what you are asking here, but this is some of my sys. info. 1.8G Celeron 256M RAM 80G HD 80G Removable USB HD (that's where I download to) ADSL DB - XP/Linux Mandrake 10.0 CE (download) (everything works great, no problems yet - ) Overnet 0.51.2 command client Core Controller (GUI) If you meant something diffrent, let me know.
  4. Please forgive my lack of knowledge about this subject, but I have a simple question. Before anyone mistakes what this is about - Overnet is running fine. I get excellent down speed. And new kernel seems to have fixed the occasional disconnect problem. So, I don't want anyone to think that I am trying to get it to run better. Here's the question. Anytime that I have Overnet open (It doesn't matter if I am downloading anything or not), everything else connected to the internet is extremely slow. No data moving up or down stream = slow browse/email. 60kbps up and 20kbps down = slow browse/email. I was just wondering why this happens, and if I can modify my connection/network settings so that I can do things like check my email without having to shut down Overnet.
  5. May not be the same thing, but it looks awfull simmilar to my problem several weeks ago. You can take a look HERE For some reason (still not real sure why), Mandrake raised up a bugger of a firewall that blocked everything in/out. I was connecting, but I got the same "computer does not appear to be connected... bla bla bla" error. What fixed it for me - I completely turned off the firewall in MCC and verified the settings (MCC wizard). I also rebooted, but that was because of my Windows conditioning (Pavlov's dogs :D ) I don't think it was necessary. When everything came back up, I just reset the firewall settings the way I wanted them. Anyway, hopefully this will help.
  6. Quick responses, thanks all. That fixes it. Oh yeah, there is another option at the LILO screen, that (if I remember correctly) is just a string of numbers. It's new with my 10.0 upgrade. What is this?
  7. Ok, next question..... how? :D Where do I need to remove the entries from?
  8. Here's a question that I should know the answer to,..... but don't. I have just upgraded from MDK 9.2 to 10.0 CE (Download) - And I did it with the "upgrade" option (Iknow,.... boo / hisss - but it worked perfectly for me). Anyway, I dual boot with XP (only have one more program that I use it for), and now when I get to the LILO option screen i have 9 choices: LINUX, Windows, Linux Non-fb, Linux old, Linux old Non-fb, and some others. I would like to thin out the herd. and get rid of some of these, particularly the (old) options. Does anyone have any advice? BTW, what does the -fb stand for?
  9. I know a lot of people have a problem with the upgrade option, but I just went from 9.2 to 10.0 CE (download) using the upgrade option with no problems. I'm downloading updates right now, but haven't seen any problems yet. All my hardware is working, even that evil usb HD that I had so much trouble with in 9.2. It seemed to work a little more smoothly than the last time I tried. Maybe it's getting better?
  10. Thanks, I verified - command gave me 2.6.3 kernel. Interestingly enough, I didn't do anything to the desklet and now it's showing the correct kernel.. Oh well, problem fixed. Thanks guys.
  11. First, I need to give myself a pat on the back. Just completed a successfull transition to MDK 10.0 CE. Wo hoo. :D Now, I'm looking at one of my gdesklets that says I still have 2.4 kernel installed. I know this isn't right (probably need to reinstall that desklet) I should know this but I don't. Just to give me a little peace of mind, what is the command to check kernel version?
  12. I hope you meant an 80G HD. Wouldn't get much editing use out of an 80 meg HD.

    USB HD Blues

Ok, I'm an idiot. You'll notice the FAT32 issue was brought up early in this thread And my answer Well I could have sworn that I checked that when I first purchased it. I plugged the hd into my laptop (windows - have to for work) to see if there was some type of disk dammage or corruption. Everything worked fine in windows. So, I decided to take a look at it with partition magic. stupid stupid stupid. Long story short - NTFS. Converted it to FAT32 and now everything is hunkydory Funny. It seems that I solve more problems by waiting a few days and reviewing everybody's suggestions. ( :P the solution is normaly on the first page :P ) Thanks for the help all. Problem fixed. Case closed. :bvc:
  14. I get the same error for the starterbar in 9.2. I've been working on it for a month now with no success. The first time I loaded it it worked fine. When I added another desklet it fudged up and hasn't worked since. All other desklets work fine, see: *I couldn't resist, I just wanted to show my new desktop
  15. Don't get me wrong. I wasn't dissagreeing. You're right, he did have a little tact. I still think my analogy was correct. The hacker stole Tex's time and effort. (although he did shorten both by pointing him in the right direction) He also stole a valuable tool for noob's like me (although that was a short period also) And any screwing around with someones website is like vandalizing their home. :bvc:
  16. I wonder if an equivalent would go something like this: "Dear Mr. homeowner, You may have noticed that you no longer possess your nice stereo, and theatre system. I would also like to draw your attention to the graffiti I have decorated your walls with. I personaly feel that I am an basicaly a good guy so I would like you to know that you should have deadbolts countersunk on your kitchen door, to prevent any other intrusion into your home. I appreciate your things and nice home. I hope there are no hard feelings. Your friendly neighborhood burglar A. Hacker" [EDIT] Cyberjackle, I just checked out your "what is freedom?" link. Excellent ministry
  17. I actually grew up down on the border. So I became accustomed to the Tex-Mex slang. I went to school in SC for 5 years (I know, the accent is pretty bad there too), then moved back to Houston. It was like living in another country when I first got back. Unfortunately, I let my spanish get rusty while I was away, or I would offer my services in that category.
  18. I can translate from English to Texan and VV. Ok I'm just being silly, but if you live in the northern states, the country boy talk can get a little confusing. :D
  19. FFT is my all time favorite. I started my gaming experience with the original FF on NES and have loved every one since. Side note - I hope Square brings future FF's over to Linux.
  20. Sounds just like the problem I had when I first installed MDK 9.2. Mine began after I installed a security update package. I was really new to Linux at the time so my solution was to format and reinstall. The security update worked fine the next time. Not sure what the problem was tho. My comments may have nothing to do with anything but I thought I would pitch them in anyway. Have you recently installed any security updates? That might be a place to start looking.
  21. Just checked it in IE 6.0. Links are spread out all over the page, and images are enlarged.
  22. Ok I followed the instructions on this page. Kernel loaded with urpmi, but when I rebooted, I didn't get the option to select my kernel. Did I leave out a step?
  23. I'm not answering anything here, I just want to give kudos to another greek mythology fan. I am assuming this. Am I wrong? Although I thought Loki was Norse mythology.
