  1. Figured I'd throw one in just before the end of the month. Cybr should like this.......
  2. Well cybr all I did was a apt-get dist-upgrade. My burner works fine cause I can boot into MS and burn cds/dvds all day long without a hitch. To be honest, I'm just getting burnt out on the whole linux thing. I try and try to defend it, but then it just seems as though crap just keeps hosing up with every new release. Whether it is this distro or another.
  3. Hate to say it, but that read is soooooo true. :(
  4. I seem to have lost the ability to burn cd's. :(
  5. Nascar Racing 2003 mostly but some Battlefield 2. Only thing is with school starting again I don't have much time. :(

    Google Talk

Haven't tried the client yet, but I know Google is trying to raise funds (and a large amount at that) for some reason. Rumor on the market is they are gonna try and aquire something.
  7. Personally I haven't tried it on Linux. I do use it on Windows and like it. I think the main thing here is not how "ugly" it maybe, but that a Windows app IS being ported to Linux. The 20 bucks it costs is nothing if you think about a co. actually making an attempt. I just hope that people don't warez the heck out of the app so that Ahead makes some money off of this. Sounds bad to some, but if one co. makes money from porting to Linux other co. are going to. Which can only lead to more "main stream" apps that window users considering using Linux more pleasant.
  8. I had e17 going on here, but had no darn idea how to edit anything. Like the menu and apps bar. :( I might reinstall someday and try and figure it out.
  9. Ubuntu with KDE, Not Kubuntu I kind of suck at making my desktop look cool. :(
  10. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/enemyter...ew_6126170.html Wonder how good this will be!!!
  11. One thing cybr, for the person who wants to try linux, are they going to go through all of this just to have a system that can boot as fast was Windows? No probably not. Now don't get me wrong, Fedora is a good distro for what it is. Test bed for RH, but I would think its really not a good distro for the typical user who might want to switch from MS to Linux.
  12. This monthly thread would be nicer with more screenshots and less text!!!!!
  13. Arch and a pretty plain look to it.
  14. I just went back to Arch about a month ago on here. (laptop) I still have it running my server. As far as outdated apps you can always use the backports or just point your apt source to the next release. Usually things don't break with that. Or at least I didn't have too much trouble. I went back to Arch cause it kind of forces me to learn again or remember how to do thing manually. Only problem is, everything is setup and running now and its the same as it was with Ubuntu. <shrug> I do really love the ease of installation of Ubuntu, especially with the wireless setup on install. (madwifi) I might go back, not sure yet.
  15. I was enjoying Ubuntu, but I don't know it just lost its luster. I went back to Arch now. I might give the hdinstall a shot on another laptop I have. Won't need to hook it up to the internet then. :D
  16. Save yourself alot of trouble and just get a print server. I did and it connects to the router and its a breeze to setup.
  17. hmmm...... Not sure if its related, but I've finally had some time to play around with my system since I've done that script. Not sure if it has anything to do with it or not, but man things just don't seem to be working right. Alot of stuff either doesn't work at all, locks up or crashes. Guess you should use it at your own risk. Or it could be just me. Sorry if anything bad happened or happens to anyones box.
  18. Not sure if this is the correct thing to do or not, but I found this at the Ubuntu forum. I don't want the author to go without any credit so this is the only way I could think of doing it. Anyways here is a real nice script to install things after doing a install or if you want to automate installs of certain programs. http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php...=install+script
  19. Stage 1 took about 2 seconds before it went back to the Gentoo boot screen. I have really top end hardware in here. Anyways gave up on it. Re-installed Ubuntu. Thanks though for responding. I just don't have the time to mess with anything right now and I need something that works. (No cut or pun intended to the Gentoo fans!!! )
  20. Windows isn't even one click. You have to click on a browser. Click on the link to the site you want to dowload the app from. Click on the link to download it, Click on the icon for the installer on your desktop. or click a couple more times to get the folder you downloaded it too. :D

  22. I haven't tried it yet. I just found it at another board before I had to go to work. I wanted to post it in here cause I didn't know how many other people belong to "talk-talk" http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/index.php
  23. I couldn't get it to work. Not sure what I did wrong. Maybe sometime this weekend cybr if you have time we can get into chat. I went through everything and the screen flashed like and said system installed. Went back to the Gentoo boot screen. I got the image from Linuxiso.org. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
  24. So what you are saying is that it works? :D
