neddie
I'm just trying out the live version of RC3, and it's pretty cool - several of the issues with 2007 which were niggling me enough to be playing with the Kubuntu live CD have now been sorted out in 2007.1 so I'm pretty happy. So far it looks good and feels good so if the urpmi sources are up then I'll be migrating soon. Â Just a little question - and I wasn't sure whether to open a new thread for this but I'll put it here for now. For me the (* Mandriva) Menu is too wide, I'd like it back to the * like in 2007.0. I tried following the tips to change the menu icon but I can't find that image in the same place, so I can't replace it. And I tried adding a [KMenu] section to my kickerrc but even after restarting X it had no effect. Is there some other hidden config option for 2007.1? Â My other question had to do with keyboard shortcuts to fire up Konqueror. In 2007.0, Start-E brings up Konqueror, but just pressing the Start button doesn't do anything. In 2007.1, Start-E does nothing (bad) but Start brings up the menu (good). I've been trying to set up the shortcut key in the menu editor but it doesn't seem to like it with the Start key, although Ctrl-E works ok. So I guess I can live with that as long as applications don't try to use Ctrl-E as a command combo.
misfitpierce
I just installed RC3 as I heard it was very stable and must say im very pleased! Gnome 2.18 is great and the latest kernel enterprise works great and detects all ram and everything. Thumb's up to Mandriva on this release! Im so happy! Darkelve
Sweet. It's been a long time since a Mandriva release tempted me to try it out again, but this one certainly does. Edited April 11, 2007 by Darkelve

neddie
Aha, about the menu icon, thanks to RVDowning the answer was here: http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Releases/Mandr...ow_to_remove_it Although I changed the line in kickerrc to read KMenuIcon=menuk-mdk to give a Mandriva star instead of the K. :D
RVDowning
Ah, good. I also used the star. Did it at home at lunchtime -- worked fine.
Kieth
With Mandriva 2007 64 bit, I'm still having problems. Is it worth a try installing the "Spring" 64 bit, or just do a 32 bit install? Â Kieth
misfitpierce
Up to you. I'm running 32 bit and a few probs I had in 2007 arent in 2007.1 so its worth the install in my opinion and the update feature actually works now and alerts you when there are packages you can download. So its wonderful.
RVDowning
What update feature alerts you when there are packages you can download? I've heard of some applet that is supposed to indicate when there are updates to be applied, but have never seen it.
