aRTee
Over 20. I have been quite pushy here at work, some of my colleagues now don't dual boot anymore. It also helped quite a bit that I did a Linux presentation which led to more people asking me for linux, and on the serverside we will move completely to Linux (not my doing though). And the fact that all designers here are used to Unix does help too. Then I have had some feedback through my website, from people who said: thanks for helping me get started, I now moved to Linux. Can't help but count those too. (If 1 in 1000 visitors to my site finds the needed push to convert, that's over 300 right there baby! :P ) Then some friends, my brother and his family, my wife's niece and nephew (and my father-in-law, though I don't think he uses it really, has to use win for his work), and of course my wife. Most are dualbooting, except my wife (I told her: sure, windows is installed, but if you need support you can just do what I used to do: search for help on the internet). Oh and my mom. Won't do it to her to have to learn/use windows. She's never seen a computer so things should be easy in her case... :) Most dualbooting is for work and games: work to use msoffice and be 100% compatible (they have the exact same version on either end - and why bother trying to get things to run with wine/crossoveroffice if they are working fine the way things are), and games - can't tell those kids: ya know, that nice 40$ game you got from your friend for your birthday, well, you can't play it... None of my adult acquiantances actually play games, except one guy who's purely on Linux who plays flightgear... And my wife, with (against) whom I used to play a bad starcraft and on Linux Majesty, and who now has discovered kgoldminer. BTW one friend called me up for linux since he prefers k3b over Nero, so he wants the new version (told him I'd get him Mdk10.1OE as soon as I've got it). Artificial Intelligence
Noneand my father makes me pressure I to stop to use Linux <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why is that?
aRTee
One short comment: I do help people to convert, but I don't preach. Did that 2 or 3 years ago, it doesn't do much good to preach. If people are interested (as I said, colleagues here are used to Unix which makes it easy) I give them the helping hand. I don't ever try to talk anyone into using Linux, because in that case they will - expect too much help from my side - not be motivated enough for themselves to learn how to do things - put the blame on me or Linux if they can't get things working nicely - bitch about it if they happen to have unsupported hardware, and blame it on me/linux etc. And besides, there are enough people who are motivated to switch, so I prefer not having to do the talk but just walking the walk. Something else: of course I shouldn't count my mom, she never converted, the Linux machine I gave her is her first computer...

Artificial Intelligence
On sunday I'm gonna show my parents why they should use Mandrake instead of Winblow. They usually play casino online, e-mail, e-banking and such stuff. Me => :deal: My parents =>
aRTee
SpikeyKlitske, every single one counts. And: it even counts much bigger on the side of Linux than on the side of MS! Look at it this way: one less on the side of MS means 1 less out of approximately 500.000.000, whereas 1 more on the side of Linux means 1 more on top of 15.000.000 (just estimating numbers here, my estimates are as good as those of IDC or whoever, and they beat Gartner (reversely read as Rent-rag) babbling by a mile for sure). So: one 500-millionth less vs one 15-millionth more! We are winning!! :P
