  1. Worked like a charm.. Thanks a lot!! This is awesome! EDIT:: actually, the ifup command does start wpa_supplicant.. But the ifdown doesn't stop it.. (I chmod'd to execute).. Also, when I switch profiles, (ie: set-netprofile Wireless) it doesn't work. :( Looking at the set-netprofile script, it does a network restart... Looking at /etc/init.d/network, it does run ifup ath0.. But it doesn't start.. :( Oh well, I'll keep picking at it.. Thanks again..
  2. Does anyone know where to find information on setting up visa transaction server? I want to create a server where people can enter their visa numbers to pay for conference services. The server will not save any personal info, just complete the transaction and give the customer a receipt. Thanks in advance, Greg
  3. Don't quote me on this, but I think the only way you can upgrade is to pop in the new version's install media and when it asks choose upgrade...
  4. Hey guys.. I just managed to get on my wireless network with wpa_supplicant.. I would like to know how to do the following commands automatically when I do an "ifup ath0" 1) wpa_supplicant -Bwi ath0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -D madwifi 2) /sbin/dhclient -1 -q -lf /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient-ath0.leases-pf /var/run/dhclient-ath0.pid -cf /etc/dhcli The dhcp thing already gets called, but it won't work unless I do the wpa_supplicant first. My question is this: can I add anything to ifcfg-ath0 or somewhere similar that will do the wpa_supplicant command before the dhcp command? I noticed a directory in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts called ifup.d and ifdown.d .. Perhaps I can stick something in there....but I don't know the format of the files to go in there. I *can* run the wpa_supplicant by hand, but where's the fun in that? I'd like it all to be automated so I can just type "set-netprofile Wireless" and have my wireless working. Thanks for any help.

    DRAKbackup

Is there a way to get drakbackup to backup all user directories without specifically enumerating each user in the config file? For example, when I use the wizard, and check ALL USERS, it does backup all users, however, these users are hardcoded in /etc/drakxtools/drakbackup/drackbackup.conf, so if I add a new user, I need to re-run the wizard to add the user. Is there a way to get drakbackup to backup all users without having to specifically list each one? Thanks. Greg
  6. Just run drakconnect, and at the part that says "assign hostname from dhcp" make sure the box is unchecked. The next screen will ask you for a hostname, and put in something cool, like NIMBA or SAYTAN or something...
  7. Thanks people for your input. It seems as though my sound problem was a configuration problem. Although, I don't know how to fix it.. I had to rm-rf my entire .kde directory before it started working again, and comparing the config settings it looks as though nothing has changed. I'll check out vwdial.... Hopefully that will get my modem working as I need it when I'm at my girlfriend's house.
  8. Hey all.... I'm just wondering if anyone else has stories about installing mandrake on a toshiba a60. I installed it and found a few problems that I'm hoping some people can help me fix. 1) ACPI support is limited.. Everything seems to work, but if I enable the lid button to hibernate when closed, the computer hibernates at random. I can be in the middle of checking my email and it will hibernate. 2) My ATIIXP soft modem doesn't have a lot of support. I can get the slmodemd drivers to query the modem fine, but whenever I dial I get a NO CARRIER or NO DIALTONE error. 3) I tried using madwifi for my wireless card. It seems to work, just not overly well. The sound card and the wireless card share an IRQ, which caused the sound in KDE to stop working (I think, this could be from an update I recently did). My computer also locks up whenever a wireless network goes out of range, so I have to be careful to take my wireless interface down when I'm done using it. Anyone have any comments? Thanks.. Greg [moved from Hardware by spinynorman]
  9. Do you have a wireless network card? I've heard of systems locking up because of this.
  10. Me too. Actually, none of my screensavers work except for the default mandrake one. I'm using 10.1.
  11. I tried this and it didn't work. Any other suggestions?
