    Quake With OpenGL

My tutorial is using Twilight. It's better than the other Quake versions I've tried. I think I have to make a new RPM for Mandrake 9.0 though. Not too sure.
  2. Searching the forums shouldn't be a last resort. That said, searching my tutorial page shouldn't be the last resort either... http://mdkxp.by-a.com/htm/tutorials/javarpm.php
  3. Searching the board shouldn't be a last resort. Anyhow, you can just go into the KDE Control Center and then go ot the Icons settings and click Install New Icons or whathaveyou.
  4. ALSA sounds like tin cans. *shudder* I'd use OSS if I were you. I have a tutorial on my site about it. Oh yeah, it also shows you what to do to get the bass and treble controls.
  5. I don't see anything about WineX in here... But... I'll say it anyway: "If you want Windows features, then you get Windows features."

    Havy Metal

I totally agree with that. However, I don't think people realize the damage they are doing to the future of Linux gaming by not supporting the Linux companies (ie: TuxGames, LGP, etc). If you buy native games, then they will count as a Linux sale. Sales are all that matter... If I were you, I'd sell the Windows version and get the Linux version. I wanted to play Heretic II, so I got the Linux version. I want to play Soldier of Fortune, so I'm gonna order the Linux version. I will play Neverwinter Nights, so I'm waiting for the Linux client. That said, some people have reported success with certain games using the data from the Windows CDs with the Loki demos, so if you want to go that route, which is still wrong in my opinion, then you can try it, if such a demo exists.
  7. Wow... That's all I really can say... First DistroWatch, and now this! What's next? TuxGames?

    Video Out?

Also, the simple way to get video out working is: Shut down your computer. Unplug your monitor. Plug in your TV out into your VCR/TV. Turn on your computer. But it's better to use your XF86Config-4 file so you don't have to reboot.
  9. It works fine for me. I frequently copy and paste things between Gaim, Sylpheed, Galeon, Quanta, and other apps.
  10. http://mdkxp.by-a.com/ Also, look at the thread "Mandrake 9.0 Annoyances" in this forum.
  11. I hope that my website will help you out in times of trouble. :) http://mdkxp.by-a.com/ I'm usually on IRC and I'm available on most major IM protocols, as well as email. I don't post on this board that much anymore though. But I recommend you stick around here. :) Good people, good knowledge, good times.
  12. It's not based on ALL of the commands. I'm saying, SOMEONE posted something about recompiling the kernel. I looked at what they said, and I used that as a BASE to go from. Once I mastered my own method, then I wrote the tutorial. That means that, not EVERY line of the tutorial was taken word for word from the post. You know what? Just nevermind, I shouldn't have even mentioned it. If that person wants any credit for helping me with my initial learning, they'll contact me. Or I just may search when I get time.
  13. I didn't just copy and paste their info into a tutorial, I have been working on and refining it myself over the last few months.
  14. http://icculus.org/~dolson/mdkxp/?c=ttrls/copy-paste Lots of people ask me this over the IM protocols and IRC, so I wrote this tutorial. You can point people towards it, and if you didn't know how to do it correctly before, well, now's your chance to learn.
  15. http://mdkxp.by-a.com/htm/tutorials/twinview.php Try that, and it should work... Email me with any corrections (ie: I'm really interested to know if it actually works with two monitors since I only have one and a TV here).
  16. I based this tutorial off my own experiences and a method posted by someone else... I wanna say thayne, but I'm not sure... It might have been arusabal... If you know who it was, I'll give them credit on the site, just notify me with the link to the thread that I'm thinking of... Anyhow, here is the tutorial: http://mdkxp.by-a.com/htm/tutorials/mdkkernel.php
  17. I've added 5 new tutorials today. Among them, three are tutorials that deal directly with features of Mandrake, and Mandrake 9.0 in particular. Here they are: * Remove the Removable Media Icon * Disabling Dynamic Icons * Removing the "What to do?" Menu Option Find them here: http://mdkxp.by-a.com/
  18. No, but close. It's right under File > Properties > Statistics.
  19. This happens here too. I just zoom out and back in again, but it's really annoying. If there ever is a fix, someone please PM me.
  20. And so, to uninstall it, you would do what?
  21. sh nameoffile That should do it. I usually don't even bother with the ./ crap anymore. If not, then chmod +x nameoffile and then try ./ again.
  22. I'm not moving backwards. Forget it. I just won't use any C++ code at all. That's what I'm doing now, and it is working fine. Mandrake did do something wrong, accoring to the guy who ported Unreal Tournament 2003 and the maintainer of Blackbox, and that has to do with their C++ libraries. That's not gcc's fault.
  23. Works fine for me. Follow my Java tutorial to install it properly.
  24. Nothing will happen. I've done it and it works perfectly. I went from an ASUS GF2GTS to a MSI GF4 Ti4200.
