  1. Mystified. I have a question. Just how do you quickly cut out just the tomato without getting any background? Free handing is a real pain. And color removal just doen't work right for me. Do you set the "select" limits to just include the background or the tomato, then clean it up by hand?
  2. you'll need to switch to admin or root. type in su - Then it will ask for your root/admin password go ahead and type that in. Now you can try typing in xf86config This will try to make a vidio configuration file for you. It looks like the one you made during the install(if you made one) isn't working now. You'll need your vidio cards chipset, monitor refresh rates and resolution. Start simly with low settings. I don't know possativly about ATI chipsets but a basic VESA driver should work. Unless you find your exact chipset in the list. Once a basic GUI is running then getting it to work better is relativly easier.
  3. HA!! HA!!! HAA!!!! We've hooked another!!!! Yes my child follow the penguin. Follow him to the light side!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
  4. This might be old news but I just heard yesterday that SSH has a DOS hole that was just discovered in it. They have an update for it. Probobly old news for the real Gurus.
  5. Thats not a trick....Thats a feature!!!!!!
  6. No problem and welcome to the Mandrakeusers board.
  7. try clicking on the K > multimedia > sound > Aumix You'll have to turn up the sound in Aumix. Mandrake defaults the sound to 0 when just installed. Post back if that doesn't help.
  8. Maybe the new kernel has a problem. Haven't tried 9.2 yet.
  9. And just why did he spend so much time learning to type one handed? Was the other........? Oh never mind this the internet.
  10. Actually its up to Dell to write drivers and support Linux. Just like they do for windows.
  11. A string and two tin cans is better than AOhell. I would rather shoot myself in the backside than go back to Aohell after 4 years without it.

    supermount ?

Try turning off supermount. That might help by making you mount the disk.

    format ZIP

I found a floppy formatter in the KDE desk top for you. the K "start" button>configuration>hardware>floppyformatter Maybe since you have the zip drive an option for that will show up there.
  14. I didn't think that was still around. The last I had heard of it though was it was free if you accepted all the adds it brings you. 10 bucks or so a month if you didn't like that feature.
  15. I've only ever run across that kind of problem with my cdrom when the disk can't be read in linux. I think linux likes to read the disk header or something like that before ejecting it. At least on my cdrom I can hit the button on the front of the drive. Haven't fixed this little problem yet. Sorry I can't help more.
  16. I might be wrong on this but I don't think linux will like having 3 swaps in you raid setup. I'm only saying this because it only shows one windows partition and one root partition. linux might just get confused about which swap to use since they have three addresses for it now. Just how much swap space do you use? I've heard that some people get by without even having a swap partition since their memory is way over 1 gig and the swap never gets accessed.
  17. Make sure you burned it as an 'image' and not as the ISO itself. Don't expand/extract the ISO.
  18. Is the phone line good? Can you use it with a normal phone? Sonetimes excessive static on the line can cause a moden to not find a dial tone. For that you might have to have the phone company come out and fix it.
  19. Have you formated the drive in any way since it was last crashed. Maybe you can find a way to rebuild its partition table. I'm sure theres a M$ app out there for doing that, don't know of one in linux. Rebuilding the table shouldn't ruin the data but as with anything please don't take my word for it.
  20. A normal cd-rom should be recognized as an IDE device. A cd-writer will be recognized as a scsi device. Thats normal. Just make sure both devices are recognized in the k3b setup and you should be good to go.
  21. It ticks Big Bill G. off to no end. For once in my life I want to know something my other non-linux friends don't know first and will more than likely never know. But thats just me. :)
  22. Benn buying guitar strings from them for years. It's nice to know their cutting edge in more ways than one.

    Olympus Camedia C-50

We need a bit more info than what your given so far. What have you tried? Do you get any error messages? What hardware do you have? How are you hooking up the camera? Most are usb and work. Cameras and flash memory sticks have to be setup sort of like a hard drive or cdrom. You have to mount it first. Then you can read from it or write to it.
