  1. For the benefit of others, Usually you can just add the "RightOf" (or "LeftOf") option under device for the nvidia card, as described in chapter 13 of the nvidia readme, like this; Option "TwinViewOrientation" "DFP LeftOf CRT" or use CRT-0, and CRT-1, etc
  2. RJ549 over at mandrake club posted this fix; ---- For years, KDE has had its own method for handling floppies. First, open /etc/fstab in a text editor as root and change the relevant line to read like this: Code: /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto umask=0,users,noauto,iocharset=utf8,sync 0 0 Now right-click your KDE desktop and choose: Create New > Link to Device > Floppy Device... In the Device tab, choose /dev/fd0 and click OK. From now on, after inserting a floppy, you may right-click that icon and choose Mount. The icon will change to show that the device is mounted and a window should pop up asking what to do. When done, just right-click that icon again and choose Unmount. -----
  3. In looking a little more at gig switchs, the SMC 8505T also seems pretty nice cause it does Jumbo Frames like the $$$ switches do, and has a 768k buffer. ~$125us(pricewatch). Still no more info on the NIC's however. I sure like the other D-Link hardware I've bought before though. -AkBrian http://www.smc.com/drivers_downloads/libra.../8505_08_DS.pdf
  4. A simple question that I can't get an answer to. What 10/100/1000 (gigabit) network card is the best for linux? Mandrake 10.0 is my main distro, but I play around with others, fedora, slackware, etc. I really don't care if it's the cheapest or absolute fastest NIC, just as long as it absolutly NO-HASSLE under the current versions of the main distro's. All opinions and suggestions are appreciated. For a gigabit switch, I'm leaning toward a D-Link 5 port, cause of good reviews, and a low price, but haven't bought anything yet. -Thanks AkBrian
  5. I have a old pentium pro that does that to me every time I install mandrake on it. Try CTRL-ALT-Delete rebooting it when it dies. 2nd or 3rd time works fine on my old box (which is running bit-torrent right now). I don't have a clue why it does that, but if you watch the kernel messages (F4 ?), you'll see some king of work around happen, really. -AkBrian
  6. I had a nice 9.0 installation :D , then screwed it up . I have a Matrox G400 dualhead video card which was detected as a non-dualhead G400. It worked great, but with only one monitor. In Mandrake Control Center I changed the video card selection to Matrox G400 dualhead, then rebooted. Now I can't get into X. How do I restore my video card selection from the command line? I'm a real Newby to the Linux command line enviroment, so detailed help would be great. Thanks -Brian AkBrian4lists@yahoo.com
