  1. I haven't got any bad burn or failures...just GUI crashes ;) I tried it on another session and it worked fine also in KDE4, that proves that you and Ian are right somehow but as I said, I've not changed the default theme... if I uninstall it then delete the k3b folder (/home) then reinstall it...could work right? or you suggest that I roll back to all default settings? thx for the replies..and in advance :)
  2. well I didn't know it could cause problems...but I'm not runnning any theme just the standard as you said (In Gnome cause in KDE4 it's different) :) thanks for the suggestion.. I got the bug report that k3b made is here the first one and this is the last I saw some different lines here's the other one maybe it could help...I'm gonna try running it from another session to see if those are some user settings disturbing as Ian suggested (themes but it could be something more...)
  3. also it is happening with brasero...but brasero doesn't crash it just gets grey

  5. nice list, I'm looking into it right now, has some applications which seems pretty useful, I didn't know about them (well most of them :P ) thx 4the link
  6. Well after you posted here....I installed it here and was having the same problems you have but I did something I might regret later but solve my problem I ran frostwire as root in the first time (I know is risky, and opens a big problem, that's why I said that I might regret later) then close it and open it as normal user and it worked...have you tried?
  7. yea I'm going to write it in a copybook if something like that happens to me..
  8. well I thought about that but I was thinking about the java thing and that it might help more info...
  9. try the command "mount" and see if there's your CD/DVD if not then try using the "df" if there's nothing try to mount it manually as root su then type your root password... mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom assuming you're using iso9660 hehe...if not type your format there....hope this has helped..
  10. yep Ken is right...you'll have to go to rescue mode using the DVD or get to Mandriva Control Center using the live CD and try to fix your problem...
  11. First of all..Welcome aboard... Second...what version are you running 2009.0? 2008.1?...2009.1?...if you give us that info using uname -a in a terminal/konsole...and you now know your mandriva version get to easy urpmi and install the repositories for your version...then you can do as root su it will prompt for your root password... so you will have to give it..then urpmi --auto-update or urpmi.update -a after that you should check if there's a red icon with and "!" mark so you can install the updates...there was an update not long ago for java SDK so it will be installed 4 you.. if there isn't any red icon then you should try as root urpmi --auto-select -a I hope this works for you...it has helped me a lot :D
  12. I hope mandriva returns to that path again...sad ;)

  15. why don't you check this from AdamW blog... he also helped me to increase the gnome volume just typing in the terminal alsamixer -c0 thx to him I now have full sound XD
  16. what about the output of cat /proc/asound/cardx/codec#x where "x" is the number of your card and the codec number it has.. you can get there (/proc/asound) and then use ls to see which number of directory you have card0, card1...main is card0...and then use "cd card0" or "cd card1" depending on the number and then use ls again and see the codec#x file it could be codec#0, codec#1...then post the output using cat codec#0 or codec#1...I don't really know which one you have....it could make easier to find where's the problem
  17. There may be something going on in there...I think that's why they're asking 4 help
  18. we have to check that because my notebook used to do that before I install the video codecs (it just happened in the video, sound worked fine) make sure your video card have the appropiate driver...have you test it? also make sure the audio drivers are fine using the troubleshooting options... that's what I did
