  10. when i get home tonight i'll pm you a copy of mine
  11. head to the easy urpmi site and set up your sources from there
  12. I'm not at my Linux box right now but I know KDE will go greater than that, my box is at 1280 ! And that setting is there I've used it a hundred times. I'll check tonight when I get home for ya.
  13. the diff in these cat wires are the amount of twists and wire diameter. the twists cut down in cross talk and the bigger the diameter the more signal that gets through. your router won't ever know the difference in any cable you use it's just gonna send out the same signal no matter what. you can mix and match all day long --- and as a home user you will never physically see the speed dif between the 2 versions.
  14. No need to download and manually install if you don't wan't to. Use the urpmi command in console or for a GUI use MCC
  15. make sure your firewall is not blocking your traffic
  16. go to the add programs part of mcc not updates type kernel into the search box choose your kernel and source p.s. update your sources first
  17. change the resolution in the kde control center and then tell it to always use this setting
  18. urpmi add 10.1 sources then type urpmi --auto-select cd make sure it was a good download make sure it was a good burn
  19. kwrite/lib/modules/modules.dep needs to be typed as kwrite /lib/modules/modules.dep
  20. Mandrake installs an older version of ndiswrapper by default on installation, you have to remove this version first then install your new ndiswrapper source.
  21. Make sure hpoj is installed and you have installed hpijs from source as per hp (i can do this as user but it's already installed -- you may have to do this as root first -- not sure ) in the console type scanimage --list-devices here is what mine looks like [durvish@localhost durvish]$ scanimage --list-devices device `hpoj:hpjd:192.168.0.101' is a hp psc 2500 series multi-function peripheral if you get this then when you run xsane it should see your scanner
  22. urpmi cups first you can keep the printer, when you set it up again in cups it will just be another setup and you can make it default if you want
  23. I don't like the look of those security/suid changes on there ! you look like you may be compromised
  24. i'm using an hp psc 2510 which has built in wireless (it is seen as a jetdirect) from my experience I can setup the printer for wireless to print using the hpoj driver no prob but the the scanner is not seen. so here is what i normally have to do to have everything working. 1. make sure the hpoj has been installed by mandrake 2. download and istall hpijs in accordance with the hp directions 3. run "ptal-init setup" from console as root 4. set up printer in cups using the ptal address from ptal-init setup 5. from command line (as root) run the scanner find line (this is not the same as the standard xsane line of code, I'm at work now and can't look it up but you can find it in the install tutorial from the hpijs site from hp) p.s. you must restart cups after running ptal-init setup so that cups will see the new connection. as long as your printserver has an ip address all of the above should work smoothly
  25. In mandrake you need to use ndiswrapper for this card. I also tried it in suse because it ran straightaway but the reception is lousy no where near the full speed. with mandrake and ndiswrapper i get the full turbo speed with near perfect reception.
