  1. Anybody got any ideas why all of a sudden, my webpages being served up by apache 2 work as they should using Mozilla browser, but cough up a server error with Konq? They all worked before. (IE works too) Server Error The following error occurred: Bad URL I know the above is so generic, but maybe this is why I have trouble finding an answer with google. If I only knew where to begin. Testing locally, over my home network, and from outside all produce the same result. Maybe something to do with recent change with network settings... switching from dhcp to static ip numbers (router ip) ? thanks,
  2. welcome to MUB. Seems you entered the other control center (KDE's control center) you want Mandrake Control Center ... which is where you will find DrakConnect after selecting Network & Internet along the left column. PS. I know zero programming (I don't count any leftover knowledge of TI-99/4A basic) and have begun to pick up on the commands used after a short while (such as, mcc - which will start this Mandrake Control Center from a terminal)
  3. hmmmm, my 9.1 don't do that. But if I click the wheel, I can choose a different desktop.
  4. Mandrake's response on this controversy about the upcoming Mandrake Linux 9.2 and advertising: http://www1.mandrakelinux.com/en/mdkads.php3
  5. Yes, but he is posting on Mandrake Users Board and not Debian Users Board. Just trying to keep things on track here.
  6. Don't you mean --- /me urpmi lobster ??? I think you need to find one of those server files that ends with .wsx and copy those servers into whatever is used by lobster. You may be able to find one of these in someone's shared stuff with whatever p2p app you got. You may find more info here: http://forums.winmxcommunity.com/viewtopic...php?t=2831#2831 As for my favorite at the moment --- overnet or edonkey2000, both run on same gui front end. I think all the networks have been hurt with the current scare tactics being used by the RIAA.
  7. This has to be between the <head> and <//head> tags: <link href="css/site.css" rel="stylesheet" media="all" type="text/css" title="Main stylesheet"> Not too sure about the rest of the errors, but most seem to be similiar, such as the <p> and <h1> type tags. I just recently fixed a similiar <h4> tag error by replacing with this: <p class="h4"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Schuylkill County Youth Soccer </span></p>
  8. I have no clue what error you were seeing but... If you ran this URL through the validator http://www.i-kubed.org/index.html and got this "Fatal Error: No DOCTYPE specified!" it is just because your site host has set your page inside a frame which is what is being checked by the validator. Otherwise, I saved a copy of your index.html page on my system and ran it through as a local file. It only showed one miner error you will be able to easily fix on line 242.
  9. A good photo browser and a whole lot more. A must for serious photographers in today's digital world. Name: gthumb Version: 2.1.4-1.norlug Summary: An image viewer and browser for GNOME. Description: gThumb lets you browse your hard disk, showing you thumbnails of image files. It also lets you view single files (including GIF animations), add comments to images, organize images in catalogs, print images, view slideshows, set your desktop background, and more. available from: http://norlug.org/~chipster/index.pxml?rpms or your local /contribs ftp. (similiar to pixieplus or gqview but better in my opinion.)
  10. They seem to display correctly for me with both Mozilla and Konq. What browser are you using? I tried following the code used at hixie.ch, but had no luck trying to find the difference. I would try either decreasing the page size in the background tag (remember the browser framing and scroll bar is taking some space) or try adding some clear space to the bottom and the right side of your cat photo for a "cushion"
  11. I know this is still not what you have asked for, but it is something original you could link to in English: http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/09/02/...scofined_1.html
  12. Welcome to MUB. Your English is fine... Just making a guess here. I think you just need to symlink modem with ttyS15. in a terminal type: #cd /dev #ln -s ttyS15 modem ***double check above code beforehand. tried to recall off top of head while away from my linux box.

    What to do next?

Not that I know of... but, I thought I get you a list of some of the core "drake" files to get you started in your rebuild. [scoopy@localhost scoopy]$ rpm -qa | grep drake mandrake-release-9.1-1mdk menudrake-0.7.3-4mdk rpmdrake-2.1-15.1mdk mandrake_desk-9.1-4mdk mandrake-mime-0.3-1mdk userdrake-0.5-5mdk harddrake-ui-9.1-31.3mdk mandrake-galaxy-9.1-21mdk harddrake-9.1-31.3mdk The rpmdrake is the one that handles installing, but if that is not installed... how do we install it? I guess you will have to boot up the install CD and go from there. The rest of this list will depend on your chosen desktop, window manager, and apps. Note to bvc: See, I finally remembered this grep command without having to look it up.
  14. WOW...sweet...terrific...awesome...etc, etc. Where has this one been hiding? This gthumb-2.1.0 is just what the photographer ordered. If you got a digital camera... you gotta have this one installed. Thanks anna !!!
  15. Applications-> Monitoring-> Xkill
  16. digital cameras also tend to fill up the harddrive in a hurry too  Tho I am not too knowledgeable with card readers... I have heard of problems with the combo readers. I would investigate more before purchasing one. I gotta check out this GThumb now. Looks promising :D
  17. Cool! You should already have it on: Source: Installation CD 2 (x86) (cdrom2) Check: Menu->Configuration->Packaging->Install Software

    Making coasters

It may have been hdc, but is mounted under scd0 so should I leave that line commented out in /etc/sysconfig/harddisks and make copies for both, such as, harddiskscd0 and /etc/sysconfig/harddiskhdd and uncomment the dma line? What would this accomplish? Everything was working fine before the burner decided to stop writing. thanks
  19. Welcome to the board with all the answers, Is your computer's BIOs set to boot from the CD drive? Here's a good step by step instruction to install: http://www.mandrake.tips.4.free.fr/install.html Another good idea at this point is to check the md5sum... especially if you downloaded the ISO images. http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php...p?p=32853#32853
  20. Can only guess at this point. Run ifconfig on your machine and double check your nic settings. My machine likes to switch between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3 for some reason. Or maybe reset the modem by shutting it down for 30 seconds. Find any updates yet?

    No Sound

It doesn't matter kmix or aumix, whatever you feel comfortable with. I would find a simple mp3 and wav file to test things out. A quick google for "sound files" will find you something. If you run into further questions on this... let us know what kind of file and what you are trying to play it with and someone here should be able to help as documentation on Linux stuff can be very sketchy or very hard to understand. and welcome to the board.
  22. Just upgraded my mozilla and java and came up with another idea here. When we did the command whereis java and it came up java: /usr/bin/java this may have been a bad sym link to the old java install. We need to update this after installing a newer java. # cd /usr/bin # rm java # ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/bin/java java and Germ is correct that Mozilla wants the gcc 3.2 plugin. I also found that Konq seems to want the /ns4/libjavaplugin.so plugin instead. So to fix that I did this (Konq was already set to scan the netscape/plugins folder): # cd /usr/lib/netscape/plugins # ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/plugin/i386/ns4/libjavaplugin.so libjavaplugin.so

    Making coasters

thanks, * It is reading fine, but refuses to burn after 5% done. Why do these always die when your drives reach the 90-95 % mark? (don't answer that) I never had much luck with burners, probably cause I buy the cheap ones. I guess its time to do some shopping. I think I know what I am giving evil mods for Christmas this year.
  24. I think my burner is toast. Although it normally will still read my cd's... it is making too many coasters now. I usually get this error when recording things. Error - NO SEEK COMPLETE (030200) I get same thing whether Linux or windows. It's only about 7 months old and from their website at: http://www.cendyne.com/ Other info I found on this error message indicates it is a problem with the blank cd, but I have using these name brand blanks successfully for like ever... even in same burner. Just looking for a second opinion on whether my burner is a lemon (seems like the company is calling it quits) or maybe salvageble somehow. I already tried a firmware upgrade.
  25. Got to try it out a bit here, and find it does allright. Not quite what I am looking for... yet, but glad it helps you out in the web gallery department. Will have to try that later. The overall look and feel is better than GQview, but it doesn't like my .psd or cmyk .jpg files. GQview will display the cmyk files half decent. In PixiePlus I seem to have to do extra work to keep the current view current with the tree view. PixiePlus also leaves hidden files behind whereas I can turn that off in GQview. GQview also has the option to send a picture to gimp, which is where I would prefer to edit my images. If the gimp was to add another popular feature that photoshop has, it would be a batch processing feature. This would be really sweet. If I could only combine the things I like with PixiePlus and GQview, I think we would have a winner. Oh, and it made its own icon for me in K-> Multimedia-> Graphics-> PixiePlus image manager.
