  1. yes kilimanjaro, most apps simply use their name for the menu, plus maybe their full path to execute it. Composer is not working like this. For mozilla, I simply use this: '/usr/local/mozilla/mozilla' but with composer, I can start it with a konsole using: cd /usr/local/mozilla sh mozilla -editor This works, but still can't get the desktop icon to do this. I had a menu item for it at one time, but lost it somewhere.
  2. Duh, of course, should of tried that but: [scoopy@localhost scoopy]$ cd /usr/local/mozilla [scoopy@localhost mozilla]$ mozilla --help bash: mozilla: command not found [scoopy@localhost mozilla]$ su Password: [root@localhost mozilla]# mozilla --help bash: mozilla: command not found Have tried a bit of searching on this too... with no luck.
  3. Anyone know the command to start up Mozilla Composer. I would like to make a separate menu item for it. tia
  4. What... they have support now :?: The last couple times I have tried that route, I got replies such as this: Which is exactly where I am at today, except with the "s" (for service). :D
  5. Not sure, but when I reached that point, I needed to put in CD 2 for Blackbox. I chose a minumum of packages (no KDE or Gnome) to start with adding this so I have a gui window manager to work with. Mine did not freeze there, but did freeze during boot up --- right after "finding new modules. I found this problem is related to my CF card reader (again!). Once I unplugged it, I was able to continue as normal.
  6. Sounds like your already running Mandrake 9.3  Can't wait to get that far with my newly installed 9.2 version.
  7. Thanks for the help, but I don't want to hijack Chris' thread here. My intent was just to see if diskdrake was more foolproof, or otherwise. I think we have a definiative answer now and have learned some things here too  I must move on... I have lots to set up now on 9.2 :D
  8. No luck with my project. By the time I got to the step that sez, I think it was too late. I tried the undo feature, but sytem would not boot. I think my mistake was more somewhere in deleting the swap on drive B and not being able to use the swap that was on drive A. *Now, back to restoring my backups into my new system*
  9. mmmm, would this be a feature request, or a bug (cause it don't work for us)? Can someone do a sample on how we can fill this out to get better results from them ( for us illiterate ones) ?

    9.2 ISOs

I thought tyme's response was clearly intended for any leaked "official release." Although somewhere along this thread, things have become a bit cloudy as to is he making a project 9.2 RC iso or a subsitute for final, or even offering an unofficial final release. I am not sure what tyme has modded out of this thread, but I know what I have modded out and it did not resemble anything like a cooker project iso image(s). Another thing that could be confusing here, is the fact that Mandrake has also released the 9.2 tree which is accessable by all and could be used to make final iso's from. I would think any iso images that have been in the works from cooker (and clearly labled as to their contents and so not to be confused with anything from Mandrake Soft) would be OK to post here. *Just no torrents or links to the official stuff.* (at this time) Also note, what you in private is out of our hands and we are not to be held responsible.
  11. No problem, was planning on wiping out this hdb8,9,10 and 11 partitions any way tonight. Will let you know how it goes. *note to self* remember to back-up key files and email anyway... just in case.
  12. I'm good at hosing my system. Sounds like a project for me later tonight. I happen to have an extra swap partition from my last install, which was just a backup till 9.2 came out. So I will attempt to reduce swap #2 to 0 and reclaim that 256 megs on my /home partition before installing 9.2. You using diskdrake through KDE and MCC ???
  13. Came across this thread today and remembered your firewall problems: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php...p?p=70807#70807 From reading that, I see why I am not familiar with this problem. Mandrake default is set to NO firewall. My firewall is set in my cable router and so I did not need to use another app for this and have not had to deal with this problem myself. Hope you find an answer someplace.
  14. That could be the missing variable in this equation. I didn't touch my stock 9.1 kernel. It is version kernel-2.4.21.0.13mdk-1-1mdk
  15. Did you try setting to another font than adobe-couier-iso8859. It may not be picking up that font and is using a substitute in its place, which may be causing it to look rough.
  16. I don't think kernel sources are needed (to install nvidia drivers). I followed the instructions from their page at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display...2_1.0-4496.html and ran their script... then changed "nv" to nvidia" in the config and was good to go.
  17. /me meant torrent instead of fivestar as the name to this new release.
  18. pmpatrick, looks like they match with some slash-dotters Link here BTW: So what's the name on this release ??? Dolphin --> Bamboo --> ???
  19. I too would like this ASAP, but will be supportive of Mandrake's decision to allow the club members first dibs and wait 2 more weeks. It will be worth it :D I hear it is possible to have 9.2 final today by doing a net install. The 9.2 rpms are posted on the official mirrors. Or I hear you can install a minimum 9.2 rc2 system and urpmi the updates from the mirrors and get the same product.
  20. OK, setup an icon for both CD drives. Seems more my "gui" way of doing things, so we will try it this way for a while. I did have a minor problem of an extra icon popping up when I inserted a disk, but went into KDE's control panel and unchecked option to show devices on desktop. That fixed that. I been seeing the continuing saga of supermount since version 8.0/ 8.1 (its fixed/no its not), but being I haven't encountered a problem I knew was caused by supermount, I always left it in its default state.
  21. Ok, it recently came up in a thread here, that supermount is more trouble than its worth and to just turn it off. So I finally decided to turn it off. supermount -i disable Now it seems I have to keep issueing commands, [scoopy@localhost home]$ umount /dev/hdd [scoopy@localhost home]$ eject cdrom2 and then again [scoopy@localhost home]$ mount /dev/hdd when I need to insert another cd and I still have to close konq to eject a cd. I am confused on this issue. This seems like more work than when I had supermount enabled. Maybe I am doing it wrong... Can someone clear this up for me? thanks,
  22. Yep, blame it on the webmaster. Quickly checking the cnn.com source: <table width="770" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="speak: none"> The content is stuck at a max of 770 pixels wide here. Add a few for the window border and the scroll bar and it fills your 800 wide screen, but leaves a empty space on anything larger.
  23. I chose kmail over evo because kmail has the bounce feature and evo didn't.
