  1. Where are these mirrors with the updates ??? I checked a few that I normally use and they only have one small file listed there: mandrake-release-10.0-0.9mdk.i586.rpm 10 KB 03/03/2004 03:59:00 PM and from the looks of it, I already have a more current version of this... whatever it is anyway. [scoopy@localhost scoopy]$ rpm -qa | grep mandrake-release mandrake-release-10.0-1mdk
  2. From what I read, this community release, fits Mandrakes release schedule the same as any public release prior. In my opinion, yes, it may be just as buggy as the 9.1 or 9.2 release for some of you and deserving to be called an "RC" release as opposed to "FINAL". What is new, is that they will be releasing a new set of ISOs in a month or so that will include any update issue between now and then and this will bear the name "FINAL". And from a personnal standpoint. For once, I am one of the lucky ones. Everything works "out the box" and is running smooth here... including my dreaded USB CF reader device I have. As for these 300 megs of updates... I don't see them on the mirrors I use.
  3. Here's something that looks full-featured and probably more what your looking for. Forum member Michel posted this on another thread http://www.sql-ledger.org/
  4. :o I was basing my reply on the thread's title, I am not really familiar with nforce2 and was just thinking along the lines of a GeForce, which is a nVidia card. EDIT ADDED: now I am confused. ( http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce.html )
  5. The rpm will compile on its own... this is why kernel-source is required before installing. http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=4567
  6. That was the source of many problems for me a couple of years ago with both Windows and Linux. I had to get rid of it for me to be able to install Mandrake 8.0. From what I remember, it can be difficult to remove and is totally unnecessary. I may still have the instructions filed somewhere if you can't find via google.
  7. Try selecting a diff mouse in mousedrake. Maybe the general PS/2 wheel mouse setting will work better and not hang up the system.
  8. Just installed 10 last night on system with a SBlive card. It all seemed to configure correctly on its own. I would double-check to insure any onboard sound stuff is disabled in the BIOS.
  9. Booting from CD2 worked for me. Thanks aRTee !!! :D Everything is working too... even my dreaded USB card reader. Only two miner gliches that I have run into. 1) Install didn't test the mouse, and had to choose one for a wheel. (works now) and 2) I can't get my clock looking like I had it. ( who cares tho, will probably replace shortly with superkaramba anyway) ...and for future refs, this is now listed on the official errata page: http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/errata.php3
  10. I was looking at something like this for my page. I found an example I was going to "reverse engineer" and customize for my site. Attached sample uses javascript and mouseovers. IF we get anymore involved in this... we will have to call in the master... :P PAUL ! (you have seen his page... right ?) http://www.loudas.com/ NavMouseOvers.html
  11. Here's what I was getting with above code. (I notice I missed a bracket in there)
  12. I think I am beginning to understand... maybe not ;) try this: comment out this in the css: /* .boxright { border-style: none dashed none none; border-color: black; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; } .boxleft { border-style: none none none dashed; border-color: black; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 1px; } */ add this: a:hover.left { color: silver; border-style: dashed none dashed dashed; border-color: black; border-top-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width: 1px; } a:hover.right { color: silver; border-style: dashed dashed dashed none; border-color: black; border-top-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; then make your links look like this: <a href="http://www.mandrakeusers.org/" class="left">†Mandrake Users</a><br>
  13. Sorry, It was I who confused things here. Alternative stylesheets are intended to give website visitors a choice in how they view your pages. I would still think what you want is possible. Just give your stylesheets diff names and use diff classes. Should work.
  14. Surely :D Alternative stylesheets http://www.w3.org/Style/Examples/007/alternatives.html
  15. Would you believe, right now, the torrent's tracker is reporting: full copies: 528 seeds partial copies: 2600 leeches You should be (somewhere between starting the client and nearing the finish of the download) getting your maximum download speeds with those kind of numbers.
  16. My freshly downloaded ISO's don't want to boot. The md5sums checked out: My box will still boot the 9.2 CD's. I tried burning the images with 2 different programs. My ISO's matched exactly with the bittorrent download posted elsewhere in this forum. The autorun.inf does its job if in windows ( even tho the \ are / this time ) So what's up ? Anybody else try booting these yet ?
  17. COOL!, our very own MUB spokesmodel. I see an ad campaign coming soon. ;) (PS /my shirt is in the mail) :D
  18. I think this was it: http://ez.no/ez_publish/cms Maybe they have something you could use?
  19. I have been pondering this one myself seeing I have been spending a bit of time looking at those ready-made sites, such as, php-nuke, phpwebsite, invision, etc. I was trying to remember if any of them have this capability, but I don't remember anthing that would do the job here. Maybe a search through sourceforge for php websites may help. There was one to keep track of lists, maybe that could be customized for your use? (I will see if I can remember which one that was) Otherwise, you may just have to hard code something in MySQL and php (or PERL).
  20. Yeah, promises, promises. I give you both till April 1, before you go and decide to install some nifty package from PLF or someplace.
  21. ... BUT, wasn't there always an RC2 release before the "final'. Wouldn't this community release fit in to that same time frame of the development?
  22. HAPPINESS IS: (remember those?) Surfing around various FTP sites looking to find a package to satisfy some stupid dependency issue and finding fresh ISO's being posted before the whole world knows about it. Now I don't even have to worry about that kernel upgrade I was trying to accomplish. :D
  23. Seeing I am not a guru, I thought I would take a stab at this anyway. I would first check to see if your sources are listed and available in "Software Media Manager." You may have just lost your listings to the sources. You can start via cli w/ $ /usr/sbin/edit-urpm-media
  24. Welcome, First, I agree with everything phunni said. Yes you will be able to read from your XP drive, but do not write to it. Ideally you should have 3 main partitions, NTFS for XP, REiserFS for LInux (my choice), and Fat32 for storing things like mp3s. I believe all distros are on the same level with NTFS support. And I chose Mandrake because of its ease of install and stayed because of its community (mostly the guys/gals here at MUsB :D )
  25. Welcome, We all get that one, but just ignore it cause it works and there is no fix. When you ran XFdrake, and tested it, did you get the rainbow screen with a yes/no option ? and did it give you the choice to run either XFree 3.3.6 or 4.3 ?
