  1. Hi, I tried the live CD of the new SuZE 9.2 (KDE version) and found that the windows decorations were really nice. I like the fact that the buttons are not inside the frame. They are bigger for the same height of the window. How can i put Suze kde window decoration on my MandrakeBox ? Thks, V
  2. Iphitus This this my desktop at work (that's why it is not too flashy) I use two iiyama pro 450 (that's a 19' in 1280) in xinerama on a nVidia card. I love having two screens, it allows to write a doc while reading another. But flat screens are easier on the eyes. I have only a little 17'crt at homen so don't envy me too much :-) You gnome people may not have noticied, but i'm really happy about having a custom translucent taskbar in my kde :) That really should be a standart in kde
  3. Nominated Screenshot At least some transparency and miniature pictures for taskbar ! :8
  4. With the precompiled binairy in the comments
  5. Tired of hardware test with Windows XP 32 bits ? Wanting to know how nforce3 & Via chipset behave undre Linux ? Check out GNU/Linux 64bits on the AMD64 platform ! http://www.linuxhardware.org/article.pl?si...258&mode=thread http://www.anandtech.com/linux/ V [moved from Hardware by spinynorman]
  6. link is up again, but it doesn't compile on my cooker(=10.1 official) box
  7. Cooker will only be released in about one month. For the time being, we will only have in cooker bug fixes from 10.1 official
  8. And the download link is down. Damn !!!!

  10. Hi Chris, Thanks for your answer and your detailled explanations. Like you see i've got a xinerama setup on two 19" monitors, so space is not the problem. I usually have a lot of windows open, and i would like to continue to be able to see which windows are minimized at the glance of an eye ! So making the docker disaper like you offer provides more eye candy, but prevent me from seing rapidly what is minimized... So i would prefer to continue to have the docker next to kicker, but i'm just looking for a way to make it look more integrated in the rest of the desktop, with translucy. May be one can desactivate the docker, to add a new one with translucy ? May be this is doable in kde 3.3 ? (i'm in 3.2 from cooker) I tried kxdocker. Seems very nice, in fact it mimics OSX. but it change the whole kicker+docker, and does not support xinerama. So not so good. I looked at cleardock and it does the same think. May be i should try slicker ?
  11. No update on cooker since a few days, so i checked and saw on "warlydone" and on the wiki that 10.1 official iso are made... Now let's unleash cooker ! I want kde 3.3, gnome 2.8, xorg 6.8, let's break things again ! V Edit : Look at the mirrors, 10.1 official has been uploaded. Not the iso yet, but the wall tree is there.
  12. To make it more clear, what i don't want anymore is the grey boxes on the bottom of the right part of my screen. Sorry for my poort English, but i'm french, and guessing the good english name for this king of things is not so natural...
  13. Both of them seems nice ! Thanks a lot , i'm gonna try them. I've got a xinerama setup, so that sometimes cause troubles...
  14. hi, I use KDE because i love kde apps, but i don't like too much the "desktop look" in itself. I like a translucent launcher and this works nice. My grief is about the KDE task bar : i can't make it translucent. Minimized windows appear in colors at the bottom of my screen and that's ugly ! I would like to find a way to have a tranlucent task bar, with only colored icons (and text) 1 - I didnt' find a way to do that in KDE. Is there one ? 2- I tried pypanel that looked like it would do what i want, but it doesn't support kde. Do you know of any alternative to kde to do this ? Thanks V

  16. Not really yet. Next version (6.8) which should be included in Mdk 10.2 includes new functions, like the much talked about translucy of windows...
  17. Easier way : install driver version 5***, not the 6***
  18. I'm in cooker. 10.1 seems good, just one problem with udev, and waiting for a new version of the nvidia driver. I'm waiting for cooker to unfreeze : gnome 2.8, kde 3.3, xorg 6.8, a lot of probably broken stuff to test ! Trying to guess what's gonna bug every morning in cooker, that's linux fun !
  19. Hello Artree Broken link in frist page in featured article : -> 10.0 instead of 10.1 A bientot la Suisse ! @++ V
  20. With PLF sources, you should find the codec you want for mecoder.
  21. To install cooker, you only have to burn the boot.img file (8Mo) to a cdrw or usb stick and then you can do a network install with a cooker mirror and the /Mandrakelinux/devel/10.1/i586 directory.
  22. nforce works fine with noapic nolapic and acpi=off at install
  23. suse use a special version of nvidia drivers. Get it with yast.
  24. forums at linuxhardware.org are a good idea. Also the latest anandtech.com reviews are interesting.
