  1. Installed latest build but it has lots of bugs. In kdeaddon packages metabar is no longer there, the system monitor applet is gone. In kdepim: Kontact doesn't work because the sidebar doesn't show. Individial kmail/akregator work. In kde network kopete is broken. Accounts don't show. And Kttsd no longer works.
  2. You can find libGL.la (or a lib closely resembling it) in `/usr/X11R6/lib/' :). Try linking it: ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL something like it /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.la
  3. I don´t know where the codecs from the realplayer rpm install so better be safe and install the plf package. Mplayer can use these (kmplayer is a gui for mplayer).
  4. No, however you can use kmplayer (or another mediaplayer) and the realplayer codecs. There are rpms at plf.
  5. Copy past this in a console: GTK_IM_MODULE=xim realplay and hit enter. After that start realplayer with the command: realplay
  6. Install unrar (urpmi unrar) and extract with: unrar e <name of file>
  7. My shorewall has only holes for bittorrent traffic :D. But I agree with Ianw, you ´need´ a NAT router for security (get a cheap Linksys). Not because Linux is unsafe or because the firewall is not good enough but just to be cautious.
  8. Looks like it can't find: libXxf86vm.so.1. Do as root: updatedb and then as normal user: locate libXxf86vm.so*. If it finds a libXxf86vm.so make a link.
  9. Impressive. from dialup directly to fibre. And in the meantime I´m stuck with my measly 8MB cable connection.
  10. Install kaffeine. It's a graphical frontend for xine and use that to edit your settings.
  11. Looks like a problem with the install media. Download and try again.
  12. Use urpmi to install software. Click on the link in mu sig for more information.
  13. https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=28910 First try this. It's for a different remote but the principle stays the same.
  14. I don't think Mandriva will run on 80MB so you need to install extra memory, not limit it.
  15. Why? If you have come this far (and you're new to Linux, that's pretty impressive) why not try later. Don't give up so easiliy. :)

    KDE 3.5.1

I've never used SOS but I've used the MDE rpms (It's no longer only Thac building it. Ze does a lot of work too :) ) for something like 6 months now. It's completely stable and never had problems. Read the threads in the workbench forum for more information (how to install, trouble shooting etcetc). Good luck.
  17. So Cairo and dri build and installed without problems? Then it's likely a problem with the source (installing from cvs is bleeding edge). Somebody probably broke something. Read the mailinglists fo more information or try again tomorrow. :)
  18. Try installing the automake rpm again (urpme automake && urpmi automake). If that doesn't work try a link: ln -s /usr/bin/aclocal /etc/alternatives/aclocal (the script can't find the aclocal file/binary. Creating it with a link can solve it. . On my PC it's a link to /etc/alternatives/aclocal. However try first reinstalling automake. That should do it.
  19. You´re not posting the error. :) That´s what´s wrong.
  20. Run XFdrake (boot into failsafe, type nit 3, login as root and type XFdrake) again and select the vesa driver.
  21. Open a console login as root and type: modprobe eeprom
  22. Probably because they changed the link. :)
  23. http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=24660 Try acpi. There are a few programs at kde-apps.org that let you monitor the temperature through acpi.
