  1. Stumbled on this at a Fedora forum of all places. lol http://code.google.com/p/hakix/ Debian version of Automatix. Haven't tried it yet but will tomorrow.
  2. Scarecrow I've used Arch before and it is a nice distro. I just don't want to mess around that much. Debian Etch I did have installed on my gaming machine but thought I would give Fiesty a shot. After installing the nvidia drivers I could only get a 640x480 screen res. Not happy. Might go back to Etch here in a bit. lol
  3. Hey vamp I had that problem myself come to think of it. What I had to do was during the partition stage of the Ubuntu install is right click and delete all my linux partitions. Then start from scratch with the free space. Making a partition for /swap, /, and /home. Then when it came to the next screen I sometimes actually had to point out what partition to use with the drop down boxes. Not sure if I explained that good enough but if you have been through it a couple of times already you know what drop down boxes I am talking about. Right now I am at a point of not knowing what distro I want to use. Right now upgrading Edgy to Fiesty with Kubuntu. After reading how well Mandy is doing it is giving me ideas on trying that. Also I am really interested in what Fedora is going to come out with. Man I hate linux!!!!! ( /me goes back to his Macbook)
  4. Yep tried that and I get an error about the ip being right. I can ping it fine through a terminal. Just can't connect to it. I already checked out the samba config on the server to and it is on the same workgroup ast the rest of the computers on the network.
  5. I have a NAS backup hdd. When I try to connect to it I get this error message... "The alias "SERVER" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." When I try to "fix" it I cannot choose the file or my server to choose it. So how do I get around to fixing this? Figured one of the Mac fans here could help me. :D Thanks ahead of time.
  6. Fresh install of Debian. Thanks vamp for the sources.list. :D Even though I have connection to the network and internet I still have a no connection on the manager in the upper right hand corner of the screen. <shrug>
  7. Need someone to test with GTR2. :D Not sure I want to pay 5 bucks a month for it not to work. lol
  8. hmmm......... 2142!!! Now if I could get Nascar Racing 03 working decent I would be good to go. Other hang up with Linux gaming for me is TeamSpeak and jumping through hoops. Got that handles with just running TS on the Macbook and gaming with the pc.
  9. Just blew off my fresh Ubuntu install and replaced it with Etch. Haven't had much time with it yet.
  10. Alot of distros are like that. Fedora is not out of the loop with that. So that isn't even an issue far as I am concerned.
  11. Ok good point, but name me one mom and pop or grandma and grandpa, hell even your everyday user who is going to know what distro to install and the benefits or workings of each distro? Sorry there is just too many damn choices. I know that is a evil statement in the Linux world, but its the truth.
  12. I can understand Dell's point. What 1 of the 200+ distro's do you pick? Pick the wrong one and you are gonna get a bad name and Dell suffers some of that already with support. Linux: Choice is great but it can also be a it's downfall. Not really sure what kind of a strangle hold MS can have on Dell. If they make a good product with good hardware the consumer that wants to run Linux isn't going to care. Exactly tell me how MS can say hey..... Micheal Dell what do you think you are doing? We don't think you should do that or else!!
  13. I got bored today. Man sometimes html code can be so damn picky!!! http://webpages.charter.net/jmetko/screens...Picture%202.jpg
  14. Racing games. Nascar 03 by Papyrus. GTR2 FPS games... Battlefield 2142 Role playiing games Shot-online, golf game and free. Shot-online.com Doesn't run on Linux or Mac though. :( Thinking of trying WoW.
  15. I'll have to get one. Think it would go good with my Rush Limbaugh sticker. After all he is a big Mac fan too!!! :D On a serious note about the mouse deal and HCI. There are so many short-cuts on the keyboard you can learn and use. Me personally I like the two button mouse. My logi two button mouse works great and does the exact same thing in OS X as it does in Linux or MS. Sorry, but Apple jumping on the Intel bandwagon too late really is kind of a weak argument. The thing is, yea it might have taken Jobs a little longer to decide if he should go with Intel, but he finally did and Apple uses it now. It is pretty much the same O.S. but can just use a different cpu now.
  16. I know. I was trying my hand at being a Apple/Mac Zealot. :P
  17. MAC = Media Access Control Mac = Apple Macintosh Computers :P
  18. I for one can say that you had me running it since it was beta................ up to now anyways. Since I got the mbp I haven't seen the linux side of my gaming machine, nor bsd running in vmware. :D I will say though that it was a good influence though. I found Ubuntu a good distro. Yea people have their bitch about the whole sudo thing, but all in all it ran pretty smoothly for me through beta to the latest release.
  19. Here it was because I thought you had color spelled/typed wrong. :P
