  1. Perhaps, this is what you're looking for. http://linux.softpedia.com/progScreenshots...nshot-2216.html
  2. Thanks for the info. :D I didn't install cooker on my normal Mandy, by the way. I have one pc, on which I run cooker.
  3. I try to use the command-line as often as I can. But I've still haven't figured out a lot of commands. But as I've posted earlier in another poll on this board, I still have a lot to learn. Lucky for me, I just bought a book "Linux in a nutshell" that can help me out with a lot of commands on the command-line.
  4. I voted sophomore. Been using Linux for a year and a half now, and I still need a lot to learn. Especially, when I visite boards like these, I come to the the conclusion that I don't know much.
  5. Just out of curiosity. B) What's the difference with the Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird version in the cooker repositories?
  6. You may teach as "how" then, as both "main" and "updates" currently host Firefox 1.0.6 versions-only... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sorry on that. You're absolutely right, I've had to check it. But I've used the cooker sources to upgrade Firefox and Thunderbird. Sorry, next time I will add how upgraded. :woops:
  7. You can upgrade your version of Firefox with easy urpmi. I know I did.
  8. Configuring urpmi and installing rargui and/or xarchive should do the trick. You can use both with a graphical interface. I know rargui also handles password-encrypted rar-files and I thought the latest xarchive does the same. I use both of them and I'am very pleased about them.
  9. I would like to help out with Dutch.... :P
  10. Have you set up urpmi already? Try adding the cooker sources and after that urpmi --auto-select
  11. You can start with installing the right kernel-source via you MCC. It's the blue-like terminal thingy. Go to installing software and search for kernel-source. Put in the requested cd or dvd from Mandriva. I've also found it needs libstdc++5. So also install this lib. The same way as you did the kernel-source. By the way, are you Dutch or can you read and understand Dutch? Because we've written an HowTo for our Dutch Mandriva-board on how to install ATi-drivers on Mandriva.
  12. Reading the article, makes me think the writer had his mind allready made up from the beginning, about his favorite distro. And it's not Mandriva.
  13. Well I've installed PowerPack and the Free version of 2006, and even the x86_64 version. And I've tried them with nVidia and ATi-cards, but I'm having no Xorg-issues. Even tried the updated version of Xorg from SeerOfSouls.com and can't see any difference. I've read a lot about this issue on the board of MandrivClub.com, but is this an issue that only affects older graphic-cards?
  14. You're is super. :P Where did you get that wallpaper?
  15. I started at the age of 36. Yeah, I know, too old. But you've got to start sometimes. :P Only wished I've started at a younger age. I enjoy Linux some much more then I did Windows. Don't ask me why. B)
  16. Yep. The "Jordaan"-version uses the Xfce Window-manger and it's possible to create a bootable usb-stick. You will need a usb-stick with at least 256mb on it. The cd is roughly 190mb. I think it's a great live-cd. B)
  17. I'm using 2006 PowerPack with the latest drivers from ATi. My X700 scores at about 19395 Frames/3879.913 FPS with glxgears. Installing is no pain. I found it even easier then installing nVidia-drivers. Install the right kernel-source and then use he installation guide on the ATi-site. Before I forget. I didn't see which ATi-card your using, but check if your card is supported by the latest drivers. Else use DRI.
  18. For Xmms: open menudrake and go to the entry Multimedia>Sound>Xmms and click on it. And change the command-line on the right (it's something like soundwrapper xmms) into /usr/bin/xmms and click on save. Xmms should work now.
  19. In the Free-edition, they only included OpenOffice 1.1.5. With the PowerPack they included a 2.0pre-version for you on the DVD.
  20. Oh sorry, if I wasn't clear on that. But yes, my thought were on the installation and config pages. Sorry, about the confusion.
  21. aRTee, to be honest. I've never considered it the way you proposed it. Thanks for your idea.
  22. Hi aRTee, yes I do. We at our board, get a lot of questions from people who just started with Mandriva, about installing Mandriva. An explanation which is clear-cut and has good pictures to illustrate what they must do, is always very useful as guide to them. At least, that's the way I see it.
  23. Yes, I would like to have a dual-boot with Mandriva 2006 x86_64 on that laptop. Solely for applications that aren't available for a x86_64 OS.
  24. Yep, one and the same. Kwam hier via jouw site terecht. Super-site trouwens.
