Cupsd will not start what so ever i get a error 128; and if i run any command starting with the lp i get symbol errors. lp: symbol lookup error: lp: undefined symbol: _cupsLangPrintf lpstat: symbol lookup error: lpstat: undefined symbol: _cupsLangPrintf So now i cant print i used to be able to two weeks ago. I have upgraded the RPM's Since then so must be something in the cooker area.. Removed CUPS and Reinstalled cups same problem.. Any ideas?

Ragnarok has problems on Linux from what i read here last week.. In the case of Counterstrike not sure.. It is not the running on the client it is running on the server.. If you can get it to work on the Server then yes it will work on the clients. I am not sure how well it will work with the graphics being served across the network plus everything else. Maybe better to run as a local app if possible..

From what i heard they wanted Random data to be supplied to the NSA and others for seeing what people were looking at on the Google maps.. There was no Search Warrant or any reason or person mentioned but they wanted IP addresses of the people who searched and what.. Just random.. This is a bit unfair to someone who types in a US Airbase then gets branded a terrorist when all they were doing is checking the news articles saying these places are obscured by google maps.. China has the right to censor its Internet as it is a sovereign country and we have no right to impose our ideals on them.. Maybe we see it as unfair but you must think they have much bigger problems dealing with 1Billion people that no other country except India have an idea about.. Google respects the right to censor but not exclude.. They want to work with china not against. Is it better to educate than be forced out and not have any ability to help in the long run.. Some middle east countries censor porn is that wrong or right. It is not up to us to decide for them. they must decide for themselves what is best for their people.. May be freedom of speech has gone too far in some countries and does need to be curtailed.

I had that happen as well i gave up and have plugged in another mouse into the laptop, much better now.. the touchpad still fails when it likes.. My computer is also old it may be part of the cause?..EVO N1000V

I had that problem in the past with my Konqueror.. Two things you can try.. Change the browser identification.. (Something Yahoo will recognise.) The second one is Upgrade the Konqueror.. If you have not done this already I am now using the Versions from the Cooker and have no problems with that any more. Got no idea why your Firefox is not working never had a problem with firefox.. There is a setting area where you may be able to extend the time out.. type about:config then type timeout in the filter.. You will see different timeouts there..

Speed Worried.. Try this cheat.. GEt the same directories set up and the main set of files in the right place the extra directories not the RPM Directories first 2. then set up the RPM Directories from your CD's (At least then you have the main files) copy the HDlists and other media info and then you can spend all week doing the Rsync to get all the extras you want.. 3.Then point the FTP Directory so it looks just like the ones on the web and your done.. Thats actually how i did it, in the start.. Needed to get 10 Computers running basicly straight away the extras I left for a staff member to do at a later date when the rsync was completed..

We used a RSYNC of the mirror sites then you have an internal mirror no more going out 10 times to get the same file for different computers.. Really cool once done.. So quick..

Don't be Cheap.. Pay what is required and spend a little more if you can for the extra protection also for your expansion plans.. If you can get one with extra Plugs as well, Some have a Printer Socket for Protection with NO UPS.. Laser Printers will kill a UPS.. I am sure AussieJohn has upgraded pieces of his hardware in the Five years thus using more power, I have.. In the case of the phone line.. If you can get one to protect the Phone line for your house the better.. What is more important your life or a Modem.. Lightning does strike while it is sunny and for you people not living in the tropics.. Don't worry with the way the weather has been lately its coming to you also.. If you can get one with a Serial or USB connection then set it up to Auto Shutdown when needed..

Also People find that they like a certain community or Wiki above another one so they hang out there.. So there is more of a community built on it.. Also noticed how many bibles there are or dictionaries.. Same Thing.. Just different interpretations or language used to express basically the same item..

Switch Off your Firewall first before trying again.. Then go through the steps as stated in Steve's Page.. Your modem should flash and come on with all the lights. Just like he says on his web page then you should be connected.. Try that if not note here and i will give you more ideas.. I got one running after a couple of hours.. of trying.. Works well now..

If you read the Radio Shack one It is quite obvious why they went with windows.. It Says Due to time constraints and the Renewall of the Windows Licenses they decided to stay with windows.. Had nothing at all to do with the actual technology.. Never did a Test, or Mini Roll Out all based on Sales Talk..

It was a gripe.. Now it is two pages long. the FORS AND AGAINST Stuff.. We all Appreciate what Manrdiva has done and is doing for the future, it would be nice if they read this site once in a while which i am sure they would.. But yes they have a Business to run.. But i post fixes here on this site and comments, because i feel like i am part of a community, not a beta tester for a corporation.. I have worked for enough of them in the past.. I am a person and like the interaction, dev/null or even /dev/lp0 is not going to give me any satisfaction, whereas this site does...

Anyhow.. Now i know this is not the same company.. I went out and purchased some items for an old laptop last night for my wife, Monitor, keyboard, mouse, External Drive, Printer, Game Pad... And guess what ... IT ALL WORKED.... Now i have to find some cool games to play with the game pad.... HP Deskjet 3940 Logitech Wingman Precision Gamepad A4 mouse and keyboard.. Now I have run out of ports need another USB Splitter.. So cool when it all just plugs in the printer is not bad the amount of options for printing quality is massive under KDE.. (Fantastic..)

Ok i don't personally know Kernow.. so i posted it here.. If they are using Rsync which the servers listed should be then it is across all sites.. I don't know why someone would intentionally change their server to be different to others.. And this has occurred on many different servers in the past.. So it is my gripe.. And the only one.... Else everything else is working a charm.. Well done again to the Mandriva team for the packages... AND have a great Year in 2006.. Why is it that every once in a while.. Quite often i find that the FTP site change the way in which the Source and Files are arranged.. Not in the Case with the actual directories but the HDLISTS.. KEEP MOVING.. I get my updates each morning then once in a while the updates complain that something has changed.. YES i have to go in and manually change the position of the media for some reason.. Who ever is in charge of this could you place the method you used on your wall to remember it next time.... So we do not have to change again.. PLEASE.. There is a web page on this from a person called steve ?? DKMS Dynamic Kernel Modules Support.. I think .. What it allows for is loading modules that are not in the standard Kernel after Compliation.. Since the Kernel must all be Open source they will not include drivers(Modules) which are no OS by standard so the only way to load them is after. Or that is what i understood it to be... DKMS works well when you need it in the past i did for some modules..

I have the same problem some times KDE likes to have the Sound to it self. What you can try is this go to configure sound under the KDE options System Configuration KDE Sound system Auto Suspend Change this value mine is set to 60 Sec.. Press Apply Wait 1 Min then try opening Audacity. This fixed it for me..

BIOS.. Setting i think....

The program is used by children and my 3-4 Year old loves the program but just reinstalled my Other computer with 2006 and some files and dependencies were not available via Mandriva Sites had to go to offset for the Asset-ml files. THen once i installed all that the english sounds were not found.. By running the program using the command line i could see where the error was.. So after running updatedb i did a locate for alphabet and found files under Gcompis so made a link directory using ln -s .... All works now.. This is a continuing problem with this program.. Can we have the files on the download and links created correctly next time... Thanks..
