  3. Wellcome to the forum, Dani :) Now, did you try to setup your connection in Mandrake Control Center (mcc)? To do that, open the console, type 'su' hit enter then type your root password, enter, type 'mcc'. When you got to mcc click on the 'Network & Internet', 'Setup a new internet interface'. That should work.

  7. In mandriva, how can i remove (uninstall) the package and its dependancies from CLI (like 'yum remove packge' in fedora) ? Thanks.

  9. I've tried the mandriva's key before - FC4 can't recognize the media... now i have this: /dev/hdd /media/cdrom auto user,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0 - the same as before - no ejection
  10. The nautilus was closed. I don't have a CR-ROM icon on a desktop, it appears only after i open the drive in nautilus. Immediately after the icon pops up i can't eject the CD-ROM buy normal way. Cant it be connected to fstab setup? my hdd entry in fstab: /dev/hdd /media/cdrom auto pamconsole, exec, noauto, managed 0 0
  11. If i insert the disc and then eject without accessing it - works fine. After i brouse it in nautilus - it won't eject unless i right-click on 'Eject' command in CD-ROM icon's menu on the desktop.
  12. Yes, if i right-click "eject" on CDs the cd-rom opens, but not when i push the eject button
  13. How can i couse FC4's CD-ROM to act like in Windows, i mean that when i push the eject button on a drive it will open and i won't need to unmount it manually? Thanks.
  14. I don't know what about software, but tuning various devices in Linux (like monitor, usb, video card etc...) will shurely teach you something about hardware...
  15. I have a strange problem in Gnome: i created a custom panel, not expandable, wich conteins only application launchers. The panel is at the bottom centet of a screen. When i log out and log in again all icons disappear. If i alter the visual appearence of the panel the icons become visible again. I tried to play with panel's properties in Configuration Editor but it didn't help me much. I had the same panel on MDK10.1 - there it worked ok. this is how it looks: How can i fix this? Thanks.
  16. I've heard of linux in school, one of my friends have installed Red Hat 5 on his box. I tried it too - didn't like at all, it seemed to be too difficult. I left Linux ting for a couple of years. Then i read in some tech-site that linux based server applications become very popular and that Linux have undergone a major improvement in GUI. I wanted to install linux again but i didnt know what distro to install so i picked Debian. It was a wrong decision, becouse i was completely unfamiliar with CLI. Afterwards i downloaded Mandrake Linux 10.1 and loved it. About a month ago i tried FC4 and am using it ever since (i also got Mandriva2006 but it runs slower than FC4, so i don't use it).
