Don't you find this sentence weird ? Don't you know that kmix does not do software mixing ? Fix this please !
-
Is that all really necessary, can't you just install 100dpi fonts ?
-
no more errors, but I guess "Coolbits" isn't for GeForce FX 5700
-
look at shortcut "M" (I don't have Kaffeine installed, but I remember that there is conflict with shortcut "minimal mode" and "mute" or something like that , basically choose other than "M" for compact/minimal mode)

Main, (updates), Contrib and Java are configured correctly. I don't think that plf will add rpm's I need (although I will try). ********************************************************************** update ********************************************************************** urpmi.addmedia plf-free ftp://plf.time4t.net/pub/plf/mandrake/free/10.2 with hdlist.cz urpmi.addmedia plf-nonfree ftp://plf.time4t.net/pub/plf/mandrake/non-free/10.2 with hdlist.cz As I thought, it didn't solve the problem.

Help me! Installed latest nvidia driver (1.0-7664) using command nvidia-installer --update. Enabled Option "Coolbits" "1" ******************************************************** Section "Device" Identifier "device1" VendorName "nVidia Corp." BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce FX (generic)" Driver "nvidia" Option "DPMS" Option "NoLogo" "1" Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT" Option "Coolbits" "1" EndSection ******************************************************** And so far I don't see overclocking thing in nvidia-settings (being honest with you I don't need to overclock my graphics card, but you know... new things are exciting) [moved from Software by spinynorman]

You may fix the distorted text mode, by adding line Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT" into xorg.conf Section "Device"
-
they should add nvidia /etc/modprobe.preload problem
-
If the screen resolution is higher than 1024x768 it is recommended to install 100dpi fonts ?
-
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x...7174/README.txt ******************************************************************************* Option "ConnectedMonitor" "string" Allows you to override what the NVIDIA kernel module detects is connected to your video card. This may be useful, for example, if you use a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch and you are switched away when X is started. In such a situation, the NVIDIA kernel module cannot detect what display devices are connected, and the NVIDIA X driver assumes you have a single CRT. Valid values for this option are "CRT" (cathode ray tube), "DFP" (digital flat panel), or "TV" (television); if using TwinView, this option may be a comma-separated list of display devices; e.g.: "CRT, CRT" or "CRT, DFP". NOTE: anything attached to a 15 pin VGA connector is regarded by the driver as a CRT. "DFP" should only be used to refer to flatpanels connected via a DVI port.
-
Possible solution (fixed my framebuffer) Section "Device" Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT" EndSection
-
Is it resolution (e.g. 1280 1024) or monitor display size in mm ?
-
Add the following line in your xorg.conf Section "Device" Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT" EndSection

login as root delete all your .____ files (in your's /home folder, not root's)

Question: How fast is growing the number of available rpm's for Mandrake every year?
-
Are there some problems then I have both - KDE and Gnome installed ? e.g. higher cpu usage, less free memory, slower system? no?

/etc/modprobe.preload # /etc/modprobe.preload: kernel modules to load at boot time. # # This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are # to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments begin with # a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored. # this file is for module-init-tools (kernel 2.5 and above) ONLY # for old kernel use /etc/modules nvidia-agp 8250_pci 8250 epca esp isicom istallion moxa mxser stallion sx synclink synclinkmp nvidia (this module was added manually later after installing nvidia drivers) I don't know nothing about them, nevertheless I decided to comment out most of them to speed up boot process (and I succeeded) #8250_pci #8250 #epca #esp #isicom #istallion #moxa #mxser #stallion #sx #synclink #synclinkmp Does anyone know why they are there ?
