  4. I have a Kodak C360 digital camera, i was thinking it would be mounted as a mass storage device. But it did not, i've looked in MCC, no camera. I found out that i've had to use SPCA5XX so i installed it en putt the SPCA5XX in modprobe.conf. In MCC i see now my camera, but there is no module conected to it. Digikam find a PTP-camera and i can open it, but digikam can't download the JPG files: error downloading JPG This is the output of lsusb [root@localhost willie]# lsusb Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 002 Device 006: ID 040a:0589 Kodak Co. 5. :woops: My first love is still the one i'm using for over 3 years, Mandriva (9.1). :woops: The first i tried to install was corel linux
  6. Me to, i have tried several distro's SUSE, (K)Ubuntu, Fedora. After one or two days i remove them and re-install Mandriva, i think i'm in :woops: with Mandy
  7. This is what i did to get my Medio MD9458 to work in Mandriva: Place the firmware file (*.USB) from the Scanner CD in /usr/local/share/sane/gt68xx/ an make it readable for everybody Place the sane-backend in /usr/local/etc/sane.d/ Outcommed every line (# for the line) but not the one fore you're scanner, this is my gt68xx.conf for my “MD9458”: usb 0x05d8 0x4002 override "artec-ultima-2000" firmware "/usr/local/share/sane/gt68xx/ePlus2k.usb" vendor "Medion" model "MD 9458" afe 0x20 0x02 0x22 0x03 0x1f 0x04 Restart the computer Hope it works also for you.
  8. I've sharing my printers over w-lan, in the firewall settings i've de-selected Everything (no firewall) an selected CUPS-server. I don't usee Samba for printer sharing i use IPP and it works fine for me.
  9. I did a new install so he has kenel and kernel-source 2.6.12-12mdk, should i upgrade to 2.6.12-15 I've had some bad experience with kernel updates, such as losing w-lan, printers on the client machine.
  10. I've installed "xorg-x11-6.9.0-36.mdk2006.0.mde.i586.rpm" but when i choose in XFdrake the Unichrome driver my comp restart. Is there more to install, i saw a dkms-drm is that also needed . I've kernel 2.6.12-12mdk When Mandriva is starting up isee: Starting DKMS drm(2.0-36.mdk2006.0.mde) Installing module kernelsource for 2.6.12-12 not installed cannot install this module Does this mean i've to install the kernelsource. Oke, it's working now but do i need the 2.6.14-0.mm.7mdk kernel or is there a 2.6.14-0.7mdk kernel. I ask this because if Marnix want's to play tuxkart or trigger the system hangs and i saw that the 2.6.14-0.mm.7mdk is experimentel.
  11. Do in the console su (enter) You're root password (enter) updatedb (enter) exit (enter) locate X11 (not x11 linux is case sensitive) (enter) You will find X11
  12. Can you tell me what programms to install so that the S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter can work with 3D Is xorg-x11-6.9.0-35.mdk2006.0.mde.i586.rpm enough or is there more.
  13. I've xorg-x11-6.9.1.cvs the original from 2006 powerpack youre's xorg-x11-6.9.0-35 that a lower version. How can i install it so i can use my openchrome driver instead of the vesa driver. Is xorg-x11-6.9.0-35.mdk2006.0.mde.i586.rpm the right one, if not which one must i have.
  14. He wants to get in the bios, normaly you see on a thinkpad in the left corner "bios acces press F1". But in the bios you can disable that , so i think that someone hase that disabled. You can try to startup the Thinkpad an as soon as you pushed the powerbutton keep hitting the F1 key. I will look into my manuals from my Thinkpad when i'm at home. You can also contact IBM they are very helpfull. With Google i found this: In Reply to: Re: BIOS acces on IBM Thinkpad posted by Jerry on May 17, 2004 at 13:53:56: Press F1, hold it in when you turn your machine on, then let go. It will take you into easy setup Also: I was able to access the lame BIOS config, by pressing the normal keys... del escape, ctrl... not sure what actually triggered it.
  15. I voted only native games, the same for my kids (11 and 12 years). I can't reboot (it's inpossible, i don't run windows)
  16. The RT2500 is supported in Mandriva 2006, you don't need Ndiswrapper.
  17. Did you load the wright kernel-module. If not go to mcc/software install type kernel choose ati-kernel-2.6.12-12mdk and choose install. In console type su password and type "lilo" restart comp and try it again.
  18. My graphicscard is a "ATI Radeon xpress 200M IGP" which i configured as followed: Graphicscard: vendor/ati/radeon (fglrx) Monitor: choose "flatpanel 1280 x 800" Resolution: 1280 x 800 24bpp at last run test This is done in MCC as Ian discribed You can also do the follow: If you see LILO (the startscreen where you can choose) press escape, type "linux init 3" or "init 3" Then type su and the password type XFdrake (watch the X and F) Now you can configur your graphicscard and monitor. By options you can set your comp to start automaticly start in graphics mode Logout as root (exit) Type "linux init 5" or "init 5" Login as user Type "startx" Don't type the " " Good luck
  19. That's not the solution it's not windows what you reinstall every time. If you solve the problem, you know what to do the next time, that's the way i've learned it.
  20. I wil look on my work tomorrow how i did it , for the mean time you can choose VESA as card that is a standard that should work.
  21. Choose for "manufactor/ATI and choose GFLRX thats the one i must use for the same card. The M200 isn't supported Monitor "plug and play" and you can choose 1280 x 800 voor the widescreen consequence not by the amilo at work the only thing that doesn't work is the wlan. The card is regonized perfectly, module is loaded but you need the button and he doesn't work. Seems a memory bug.
  22. Maybe you can try "Linux noauto" that worked on My Amilo notebook. I've tried all the other option also but that was the only one that let me install Mandy 2006. Otherwise it hangs.
  23. modeprobe acerhk poll=1 already tried got the same reaction from the console. How can i update my kernel without internet
  24. I wan't to load the module acerhk on my Fujitsu Siemens L1300G. So i do: [root@loacalhost willie]# modprobe acerhk FATAL: error inserting acerhk (/lib/modules/2.6.12-12mdk/kernel/3rdparty/acerhk/acerhk.ko): Cannot allocate memory What is going wrong, can anyone tell me please. acerhk is needed for the button to activated my Wlan (Ralink rt2500) The Wlan card is reconized perfectly by Mandy with lsmod i see RT2500
  25. It's solved, in MCC i did: On host i say share scanner with http://ip-adres-client, ip-adres-client (saned will be installed) In the firewall set port 6566/tcp open (for saned communication) On client i say use scanner on http://ip-adres-host, ip-adres-host In the firewall set port 6566/tcp open (for saned communication) Restart both comps and Xsane on the client found the scanner part on the client Thanks all WIllie
