  1. You need the video card driver for your video card. If it's nvidia then you need the nvidia driver. It's in the non-free repo of Mandriva. Add it to your sources then install the kernel-source-stripped matching to your kernel and dkms-nvidia and the matching nvidia-driver. You can add the repos with the Mandriva control center on the packaging tab. Add the Distribution sources that will add them too. Then use the software installer GUI.
  2. No I don't know what makes a theme file a dekorator theme file. The only sensible way I found is to search for dekorator themes on kde-look.org.
  3. Do you have the old session file? Seems like you removed something you shouldn't have removed. Namely gnome-desktop or whatever it's called there. If you still have the old file then just copy it back then post the contents of that file here. Maybe someone will know what you really should remove from that file.
  4. Mandriva sponsored aKademy and gave Flash keys to the developers. Helio Castro one of the KDE developers at Mandriva held a presentation. Sebastian Trueg got aKademy Award for k3b. Mandriva decided to sponsor GUADEC 2007 (GNOME Users' And Developers' European Conference) which is is being held at the UCE Birmingham Conservatoire, in Birmingham, England, from Sunday 15th July, until Saturday 21st of July 2007. Mandriva will also give Flash keys to Gnome developers. Frederic Crozat the GNOME team leader is there. If that's not enough Adam Williamson will be at San Fransisco on the LinuxWorld expo from the 6th to the 9th of August at the Moscone Center. He'll be in the Intel booth.
  5. Use a valid deKorator theme archive? From the error message it looks you tried to open the wrong kind of file with dekorator.
  6. This is an src.rpm which means it contains the source code and needs to be compiled. So you can't just install it as any other rpm. But Orts is right. Use the one which is already in the repo.
  7. Seems like Mark Shuttleworth is not satisfied with the Dell laptops preinstalled with Ubuntu. He's planning a high-end laptop which is fully compatible with FOSS software. With enough interested people he will turn to one of the original manufacturers. You can read the sketch of the planned specifications on the project wiki page: The project already has a moderated mailing list for those who want to participate. source: hup.hu

    krename

What pmpatrick wrote is actually backporting. So if you don't wanna do that then use the one in the backports repo. It's much easier.
  9. In this case it happened because both the official Mandriva repos and the plf repo has mplayer packaged. That's because some codec support cannot be compiled into the official version because of licensing issues. So plf makes an mplayer package with all codecs support compiled in. These two mplayer package can conflict in certain cases.

    krename

Backported stuff is released stuff. It was just released after the distro came out. So If you don't have a better idea then I suggest to add the backports repo, install krename if doesn't have too many dependencies and then swithch off the backports repo.
  11. Adam updated the wiki page of Mandriva 2008 (scheduled for October). If you are interested in what will be in it then don't miss it. Read it here.
  12. Thank you. You can see on the pic what I mean. I marked (some of) them with red frame. Instead of the commas there should be Hungarian characters. edit Can you see it? I get the message when I click on the link that I have no permission to see it.
  13. I was wrong. Something's still not right. On the main page the Hungarian for comment, Site navigation, Online users etc are still using the old encoding. I've made a picture but I can't find a way to attach it. It used to be obvious. How can I do that now?
  14. The Patrons of KDE are those companies who give financial support for the KDE project. There were only three of them until 3 days ago. Then Intel and Novell joined them.
  15. Your link reads as correct but points to the 2006 configuration page.
  16. Thank you but the Hungarian translation is using the old 8859-2 encoding. Could you change it to utf-8 please? Thank you. And you for making this place even more convenient.
  17. I assume you are using KDE and you setup the blue theme in the KDE Control Center. Azureus and the native mplayer GUI are using the GTK widget set so the KDE CC settings don't have any effect on them. You should setup GTK themes in the Gnome CC or you can try the gtk-qt engine.
  18. Mandriva doesn't create grub entries for other distros automatically though it detects and adds Windows partitions. But it has a GUI to add Grub entries so it shouldn't be very hard.

    Updates

I can confirm what AussieJohn wrote. I had kde4 dependencies in my updates and when I chose not to install them the updates didn't install too. These were various kde packages including kdebase IIRC which is hardly contrib package.
  20. Apart from minor bugs yes. But those bugs aren't related to the packaging AFAIK.
  21. urpmi.cfg How could I get the full message again without reinstalling or deleting\installing ? I admit I wasn't really paying attention because I saw so many of these messages over the years.
