  1. Good Morning. I have upgraded to Mandriva 2010 yesterday. After the update, when I boot Mandriva, the GUI login screen doesn't comeup. When I switch to command prompt and issue startx command, I get the following error- xauth: creating new authority file /root/.serverauth.16241 /etc/X11/X: symbol lookup error: /etc/X11/X: undefined symbol: pixman_disable_out_of_bounds_workaround giving up. xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server xinit: No such process (errorno 3): Server error. Request you to kindly help me with this. Thank you!!
  2. Hi!! Thanks everyone for all your help!! I was trying for solution and have found this thread in our forum https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?/topic/29019-nvidia-controller-ethernet-solved It advised me to add adding forcedeth to /etc/modprobe.preload. I just did that and its working great now!! Thank you for your help and time..
  3. Hi, I have read in one of the forums "http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-wireless-networking-41/error-error-for-wireless-request-set-mode-8b06-invalid-argument-roaming-506735/" that they got rid of this error by change from Mode=Auto to Mode=Managed I did the same thing in configure network option. It now doesn't say invalid argument now. It just displays this error message- Another wpa_supplicant instance is already running for device wlan0
  4. When I try ipup wlan0, it gives this message- Error for wireless request "set Mode" (8B06) : SET failed on devise wlan0 ; Invalid argument. Another wpa_supplicant instance is already running for device wlan0 Please help!
  5. Hi Ian, Thank you for the reply. I am not able to see any wireless networks in iwlist as well. It says network is down. Here is the output. [root@localhost rama]# iwlist wlan0 scan wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down [root@localhost rama]# Did I miss anything in the installation?
  6. Hello, I have installed mandriva 2009 yesterday. Everything works great - but the wireless networks. Windows XP detects two wireless networks as shown in the screenshot attached. But, Mandriva detects none. I don't think there is any problem with the installation or drivers but.. not very sure. Here are some of the outputs you might be interested to look at. [root@localhost rama]# ndiswrapper -l bcmwl5 : driver installed device (14E4:4311) present (alternate driver: ssb) [root@localhost rama]# iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wmaster0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=0 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 Thank you for your help, Thank you for your time :)

  9. Thanks! for your time. There is a "quit" option in "Movie" menu. Also, there is no totem icon on the panel bar when I "quit" Totem. But, it starts again when I reboot/re-login my GNOME session.
  10. Hi, Totem player starts up automatically every time I login to my GNOME session. I have checked the startup tab in gnome-control-center. Totem is not listed in that. I want to stop totem from starting itself automatically at startup. Kindly help me with this.
  11. Wow!!! my internet is fast now.. I commented belkin and have and have disabled IPV6. Thanks soo much..
  12. Hi, My internet connection is very slow in my Mandriva compared to the connection speed in Windows XP. Just did a google search for this problem. One of the forums said "Check your DNS servers in your /etc/resolv.conf file. If it shows your router as the nameserver this might be the issue. Change this entry to your ISP's DNS servers." My /etc/resolv.conf file says- search Belkin nameserver 192.168.2.1 nameserver 65.24.7.3 nameserver 65.24.7.6 I am pretty sure Belkin is the name of my router. What exactly should I change this to? What is " entry in my ISPs DNS server"? Thanks so much for all ur help!! [moved from Software by spinynorman]
