Ixthusdan
Absolutely 3 Most of the hardware that I have worked with has not been on any linux hardware list. The only time I think it is critical is printers/scanners/modems. Even the reported problems with some hard drives and such are sporadic, and not issues 100% of the time. mtweidmann
Your unlikely to have any problems getting a CD-RW to work with Linux as.
VeeDubb
Let me add one more vote for number 3. I have tried 3 different burners under 2 different linux distrobutions, and they all worked without a hitch.
Germ
yup, you probably won't have a problem with just about any CDRW. However, I recommend Lite-On. More bang for the buck and they are extremely reliable.
roland
Thanx you ! I'll do 3 and take the MSI one. 43 Euro (about same in $) all taxes included :!: That's incredibly cheap for a 52x32x52 ! :-) roland
VeeDubb
If you haven't already bought it, you should check out http://www.newegg.com A friend of mine just got a 52x36x52x16 CDburner DVD reader combo drive for less than $90 and it has an 8MB buffer!!!!! 8MB is HUGE. It's a samsung and weve used it a couple of times and I mean it is FAST. burning from the hard drive, it actualy averaged about 54 and I saw it spike as high as 65x using k3b. It's VERY fast and no coasters yet.
Pepse
I can say that LG/Goldstar are Linux compatible; says so on the box. I bought it specifically for that reason. I have had it for almost 2 years and have been satisfied with it. My opinion. Pepse.
liquidzoo
I have had 2 different burners with Mandrake. The first was a Creative, the current one is a Goldstar. Both worked flawlessly. It seems like it is very rare that you fine an internal CD Burner that won't work with Linux. I would imagine USB devices would be different, but I don't know. dalek
I bought a Samsung SW-248 and couldn't get it to work. I currently have a LG GCE-8520B. It worked when I booted. No problem! I don't know why the Samsung didn't work. It may have been bad out of the box. I don't run windoze so not really sure. :D :D :D :D
