iphitus
Hi Can anyone reccomend any good linux games to download on my dial up internet? I have Mandrake 8.2 - Kernel2.4.18-6mdk on a PII300mhz, 160ram, ATI Rage AGP 1x/2x graphics. I realise the specs are lame. Thanks James PS i have to download them in Win95 as i have a Winmodem that is not supported.
Guest JaseP
If you have 8.2 powerpack, then I'd suggest installing frozen bubble. Very addicting. You can download frozen bubble as well. For good Linux games,... check out the Icculus site... http://www.icculus.org/lgfaq/gamelist.php It has just about every decent Linux game out there. zero0w
The list is very good. Thanks. Also, DOlson has a new article on Linux games here: Gaming and Linux in 2003 http://www.linuxhardware.org/article.pl?si...03/04/18/169209

johnnyv
vegastrike is a nice free game but as it is around 100 mb it would take a while to download. http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/
ral
Return to Castle Wolfenstien You need to buy the Windows version and get the Linux Installer at idSoftware. Drawback is you need to copy some files from a Windows install.
DOlson
Return to Castle Wolfenstien You need to buy the Windows version and get the Linux Installer at idSoftware. Drawback is you need to copy some files from a Windows install. That isn't entirely true. Only the old RTCW CDs require a Windows install. The GOTY edition doesn't use InstallShield or whatever, so you can just copy the files right off the CD. Also, if you order it from TuxGames, you get an installer with it that will work to get the data off of the CDs. Or you can order just the installer disc from them for $5. dalee
Some good free ones I like are Dopewars, and Crimson-Fields. They aren't too big for a dialup. They might even be on your install CDs. BzFlag is fun tank like game played on-line. I can play it with my dial-up connection no problem. There are many servers to play on. dalee
johnnyv
Freeciv also plays well over a slow connection and there are quite a few servers around
DOlson
FreeCiv is even good if you play against AI. At least I like it.
Guest greeneggs
FreeCiv is even good if you play against AI. At least I like it. I've seen FreeCiv and thought I love to be able to play that but I think you can only get that with MDK's "Gaming Edition", right?. Is it possible to download this game somewhere?. I'm still going through all my medical testing and treastments and this would be fun and get my mind off of my problems for awhile Thanks! ral
Thanks for the info DOlson. Someone has been asking to trade his RTCW GOTY with my tin box RTCW. Gonna make the trade now :) Sorry for the post... I missed the part on free downloadable games. No need to download. Its on the CD's.
